WWE’s Initial Plan For Dominik Mysterio’s NXT North American Title Match At No Mercy

WWE just presented NXT No Mercy over the weekend, and fans are still talking about how that card turned out. They will also see the fallout from the premium live event this week, and odds are, there is a lot more to the NXT North American Title story.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Trick Williams’ NXT North American Title match feels like a very late decision. After all, the promoted match for No Mercy was already Mustafa Ali vs Dominik Mysterio for the title.

“I don’t know this, but it would feel like this was a very late decision because this match trick Williams never even scheduled for this match. This was supposed to be Mustafa.”

Bryan Alvarez then noted that Mustafa Ali was not supposed to win the match against Dominik Mysterio. That being said, the idea is that Trick Williams may lose that NXT North American Title back to Dominik Mysterio, and the new Carmelo Hayes angle could play into things.

“Ali was not supposed to win. Now, I will say this. They have not announced an NXT yet, but I would not be the least bit surprised if within the next week or two. Trick offers a rematch to Dominik and Carmelo screws him out of the title and we get the belt back on Dominik because clearly, the belt is going to end up back on Dominik soon because he was never supposed to lose it. He wasn’t going to lose it to Ali. And so that would also play into this Carmelo-Trick storyline where Carmelo is jealous. That trick has a title and he does not.”

WWE NXT No Mercy ended with Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams having a moment together. In the process, Hayes took a long look at William’s new NXT North American Title. Only time will tell how this pans out for them both.

Dave Meltzer went on to note that Trick Williams is going to be a big star on the WWE main roster, maybe even bigger than Carmelo Hayes. We will keep an eye on their storyline, because it appears that NXT could be positioning those two for war.
