Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that WWE knew that Edge was on his way to the company. This falls in line with our previous reporting, and it was pretty clear at the start of the summer that the Rated R Superstar wasn’t staying with WWE.
It was also noted that Adam Copeland left WWE on good terms, and the door is also open for the WWE Hall of Famer to make a return to the company down the line. Those in WWE that Sapp spoke to were also very happy for Edge.
Some within WWE said that it became obvious to them at the start of the summer that Edge wasn’t returning.
WWE sources we spoke to claim that Adam Copeland left on good terms, and would be welcomed back into the company if he ever returned.
The overwhelming consensus was a positive within AEW and a “happy for him” within WWE.
Ringside News also previously exclusively reported that there is an internal belief within WWE that Edge is going to AEW. A short time later, Sean Sapp reported that there is also belief within AEW that Tony Khan will ink Adam Copeland to a contract.
This is quite a big news story, and Adam Copeland’s time in AEW is only getting started. His first match is already booked, and now it appears that the sky is the limit for what he is able to do in the future, and a WWE return could be in the cards someday as well.
