WWE RAW Results Coverage, Reactions & Highlights For October 2, 2023

It’s Monday night, and you know what that means! WWE RAW will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage.

Tonight promises another exciting night of action as Gunther and Tommaso Ciampa sign the contract for their Intercontinental Championship match. Also scheduled for tonight is the singles match between Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. The updated match card is as follows:

• Xavier Woods vs. Ivar
• The Miz TV with Drew McIntyre
• Shayna Baszler vs. Nia Jax
• Intercontinental Championship contract signing

WWE RAW Opener:

The opening segment for the show begins.

A brawl emerges between Rhea Ripley, Raquel Rodriguez, Shayna Baszler, and Nia Jax. Security officials come out to separate them.

Rhea Ripley gets on the mic and says she has something else to handle. She calls out the Judgment Day. Judgment Day’s music plays and Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio walk down to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Rhea Ripley asks the crowd to show some respect to Priest and Dominik. She says she has some Judgment Day business to attend. She confirms that there are no leaders in the Judgment Day but someone has to come up with a gameplan so things don’t go wrong. She says she got taken out for two weeks and things start falling apart for the Judgment Day. She says left her responsibility to Priest and he let her down. Ripley says he didn’t handle the job. She says Finn’s out injured and he is not medically cleared.

Rhea says Dominik lost his NXT North American Championship because of him. She says they are not seens as threat and there is nothing Priest can do. Priest says he knows that Cody and Jey are coming for the titles and he is ready for them.

He says he has his title and contract and asks where is Dominik’s title. Rhea tells Dominik he has a rematch against Trick Williams tomorrow on NXT. He tells him not to come home if he doesn’t win the title.

Jey Uso’s music plays and he comes out to the ring. Jey welcomes back Rhea Ripley. He says they miss her. He says there is a new Tribal Chief on Monday Night. Priest says he is tired of hearing Jey talk. He walks towards Jey but Dominik stops him and says he is going to take care of Jey. Priest agrees and walks back.

Dominik goes for a punch and misses and Jey superkicks him. JD McDonagh attacks Jey from behind and they both attack him. Cody Rhodes’ theme song plays and he comes into the ring and they fight off McDonagh and Mysterio. Pearce comes out and says Cody and Jey will face Priest and Balor at Fastlane for the tag titles.

Alpha Academy vs. Imperium

Alpha Academy’s music plays and they come out to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Imperium’s theme song plays and they walk to the ring.

The match begins with Gable and Kaiser. Gable takes down Kaiser. Kaiser comes back and knocks down Gable. He kicks Gable and tags out. Vinci attacks Gable in the corner. Gable comes back with an ankle lock. He hits an exploder suplex on Vinci. Gable climbs the top rope but Kaiser pulls Vinci out of the ring. Gable dives onto Vinci.

*Commercial break*

Vinci plants Gable on the apron and Kaiser hits him with a baseball dropkick sending him out of the ring. Kaiser sends Gable into the ring. Kaiser tags out and Vinci kicks him. He knocks him down. Vinci hits him with a clothesline. Kaiser tags in and attacks Gable in the corner. He goes to work on Gable.

Gable comes back with an ankle lock but is shoved into Vinci. He hits a German suplex on Kaiser. Kaiser goes for a tag and Vinci is not there. Gable tags out and Otis knocks down Kaiser and Vinci. He throws Kaiser across the ring and hits him with a splash in the corner. He then hits a powerslam on Vinci. Otis hits the caterpillar on Kaiser. Otis goes for a fallaway slam from the second rope but Vinci grabs his legs as he falls. Gable takes out Vinci. Kaiser hits the enzuigiri on Otis for the win.

Winner: Imperium

Pearce informs Nox that Becky won’t be able to compete tonight. Green comes in and asks her to suck it up and says she should hope her match gets canceled so that she won’t lose to Lynch since she is not championship material. Nox suggests to Pearce that she should face Green tonight and he agrees. Green says she will walk to management and leaves.

*Commercial break*

Bronson Reed vs. Cedric Alexander

Bronson Reed’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Cedric Alexander is in the ring.

The match starts and Cedric attacks Reed in the corner. He hits a missile dropkick sending Reed out of the ring. He hits a suicide dive on Reed. Alexander dives onto Reed.

Reed catches Cedric with a clothesline. Cedric knocks down Reed. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Reed comes back with a splash and a senton. Reed then hits the Tsunami for the win.

Winner: Bronson Reed

Pearce is speaking on the phone. Drew runs into him. He says he is not going to do Miz TV. Drew says he is going to go out and speak his mind but if Miz interrupts, he is going to beat him up. Pearce asks if he is ok and Drew reminds him that no one helped him against the Bloodline.

*Commercial break*

Adam Pearce is in the ring. He says it is time for the Intercontinental Championship match contract signing. He introduces Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Imperium’s theme song plays and Gunther walks down to the ring.

Pearce says they need two signatures to make this match official. Ciampa signs the contract and says the morning he wakes up to face Gunther only two people in this world is going to matter and one of them is him. He says Gunther was given opportunity and opportunity but that doesn’t happen to him.

He says he will have his family at ringside but he will fight for himself who has dreamed about this moment for his entire life. He promises to be the new Intercontinental Champion by the end of the night.

Gunther questions Ciampa’s choice of attire for the contract signing. He says he respects Ciampa’s motives. He says he fights for what near and dear to himself. He says the Intercontinental Championship means the most to him. Ciampa says Gunther is so confident for someone who is going to lose and he asks him to sign the contract. Gunther tells him not to interrupt him again. He says Ciampa can keep on dreaming because he is not winning the title.

Ciampa says they can change a few words in the contract and have the match tonight. Gunther says he should prove it and signs the contract. Pearce confirms the match. Gunther takes a cheap shot at Ciampa and a brawl breaks out.

Judgment Day are backstage. Priest says he can’t beat anyone tonight but he has to compete at Fastlane. JD tries to say something but Priest yells at him. Rhea says this could be the wedge needed to divide them. Priest agrees and walks away.

Xavier Woods vs. Ivar

Xavier Woods’ music plays and he comes down to the ring with Kofi Kingston.

*Commercial break*

Viking Raiders’ theme song plays and Ivar comes down to the ring.

The match begins and Woods kicks Ivar. Ivar comes back and knocks down Woods. He slams Woods and attacks him. Woods sends Ivar out of the ring. Ivar goes for a splash and misses. Woods hits him with a dropkick.

*Commercial break*

Woods slams Ivar. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Ivar slams Woods. He climbs the top rope but is stopped. Woods goes for a powerbomb but Ivar crashes on him. Ivar climbs the top rope and goes for a splash and misses. Woods rolls him up for the win.

Winner: Xavier Woods

Ivar attacks Woods from behind. Kofi tries to save Woods but Ivar takes him out. Ivar slams Kofi on Woods. Ivar hits a moonsault on Woods and Kingston.

Seth Rollins is walking backstage.

*Commercial break*

Michael Cole introduces Seth Rollins. Rollins’ music plays and he walks to the ring. Rollins asks fans to cheer for Michael Cole. Cole says he has called most of Rollins’ matches and he has helped him come up with some of his nicknames. He says this time Rollins is the puppet.

Rollins asks what show has he been watching because he finally got his rematch. Cole asks what is Rollins doing. He says Rollins has accomplished a lot in his career. He says this is one of the most brutal matches in WWE history. He says Rollins’ back is hanging by a thread and he could be days away from his career ending. He asks why is he putting himself through this.

Rollins asks how many years Cole has been sitting in commentary. Cole replies 26 years. Rollins asked how many shows has he missed and Cole replied 2. He says Cole gets it and says he needs it and loves it. He says that’s what it’s like for him to be in the ring. He says he loves it when the fans sing his song. He says this ring has given him everything.

He says being World Champion amplifies all those responsibilities and if these responsibilities result in his career ending, it doesn’t matter as long as he left it in the ring. He says that’s the best reason he’s got to compete at Fastlane. He says it’s a feeling and it feels right.

Nakamura appears on the titantron and says one believes him anymore. He asks if his back problem is a way for him to make people feel sorry. Nakamura attacks him from behind and hits the Kinshasa. He hits him with a steel chair and attacks the back multiple times. Nakamura counts to ten on the titantron. Rollins gets up but Nakamura knocks him down and hits a backbreaker on the steel chair. He then hits the Kinshasa and counts to ten.

Tegan Nox is backstage. Becky runs into her and says she really wanted to defend but she isn’t cleared to compete. She says she better be ready for her. Becky leaves and Natalya comes in and says she is proud of her and says she is going to get her opportunity against Becky and she will nail it when she gets her opportunity.

Tegan Nox vs. Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green’s music plays and she comes out with Piper Niven.

*Commercial break*

Tegan Nox’s music plays and she walks to the ring.

The match begins and Green knocks down Nox. Nox comes back with a back elbow. Green kicks Nox in the face sending her out of the ring. Green goes after her but Nox gets back in the ring. Nox dives onto Green. Nox sends Green into the ring. She climbs the top rope but Piper Niven distracts her. Natalya comes out to ringside. Nox dives onto Green and follows it with the shiniest wizard for the win.

Winner: Tegan Nox

Drew McIntyre’s music plays and he comes down to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Byron interviews Jey Uso who says when Cody invited him to RAW, it was a fresh start. He says he will fight Judgment Day any time any where.

McIntyre is in the ring and he says everybody wants an explanation for his change. He says the only people he answers to is his fans. He says he is going to stop being the savior. He calls the WWE locker room a bunch of hypocrites. He says Cody does what he wants.

The Miz’s theme song plays and he walks to the ring. Miz says he doesn’t forgive him for last week. He says he gave him an open platform last week but Drew shuts him up. Drew asks him to leave.

Miz says he stood up for Drew McIntyre but he asked him to shut up instead. Miz asks Drew to embrace who he is and Drew asks him to shut up again. McIntyre says Miz wants him to be the bad guy. He says that’s not how he operates and he challenges him to a match. Miz says they are not dressed for a match. Miz says Drew is self-absorbed and the real Drew will come out when someone else gets beaten down and he will pick a side that benefits him. Miz says he throws up when he looks at him. Drew says it’s time to fight.

Miz says he will be the hero and walk away. Miz walks out of the ring. He comes back and attacks Drew with a mic sending him out of the ring. Drew comes back into the ring and attacks Miz in the corner. WWE officials come into the ring to separate them and Miz runs away.

*Commercial break*

The Miz vs. Drew McIntyre

The Miz rolls out of the ring. Drew catches Miz and drives him into the barricade and the apron. Miz sends Drew into the ring post. Drew gets back into the ring and Miz attacks him in the corner. It has no effect and McIntyre throws him across the ring. He throws him again. Drew hits a neckbreaker on Miz.

Miz sends Drew to the apron and hits him with the double knees. Miz tries to remove the turnbuckle padding but the referee catches him. Drew hits him with the Glasgow kiss. He takes his sword but the referee takes it away. Drew removes the turnbuckle padding and slams Miz into it before hitting the futureshock DDT for the win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Drew gets on the mic and says he is not the same guy he was 30 seconds ago. He apologizes and then says he is forgiven for his actions.

Jackie interviews Trick Williams who introduces himself to everyone. He says he is the new NXT North American Champion. He says will defend against Dominik. Dominik comes in. Rhea says Dominik won’t be coming to NXT alone and he will be walking away with the title.

*Commercial break*

Jackie introduces Cody Rhodes. Cody’s music plays and he comes out. Cody says he never planned on tagging with Jey Uso but the Judgment Day have backed themselves into this match. He says their plan is to be on SmackDown this Friday. He says he and Jey will be there as well. He says he will win the tag titles at Fastlane.

Intercontinental Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Imperium’s music plays and he walks to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Alpha Academy is backstage. Gable says people need to cheat to beat them. He says he hasn’t peaked yet unlike Gunther and when he does everyone will page.

Ciampa’s music plays and he walks to the ring.

The match begins and Ciampa attacks Gunther in the corner. Gunther takes Ciampa down and locks in the Boston crab. Ciampa sends Gunther into the post and attacks him. Gunther gets back into the ring and Ciampa locks in the Sicilian stretch. Gunther rolls out of the ring.

*Commercial break*

Gunther chops down Ciampa. Gunther with a bodyslam. Gunther locks in the sleeper hold. Ciamp fights out of it and Gunther hits him with a big boot. Ciampa drives Gunther into the turnbuckle and locks in the Sicilian stretch. Gunther gets to the ropes. He pulls Ciampa out of the ring and slams him on the apron.

*Commercial break*

Both men exchange strikes. Gunther places Ciampa on the turnbuckle and stomps him. Gunther goes for a chop and catches the announcer’s table. Ciampa targets the injured arm. He then hits the Willow’s bell on Gunther. Cover! 1……2….kick out.

Ciamp kicks the arm of Gunther. Gunther comes back with a dropkick. Cover! 1….2…..kick out. Gunther goes for the powerbomb but the hand gives out and Ciampa hits the reverse DDT. He then hits a jumping knee. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out.

Ciampa goes for the fairytale ending but Gunther hits the sleeper suplex. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Ciampa locks in the Sicilian stretch. Gunther gets to the ropes. Ciampa kicks Gunther but he comes back with a couple of powerbombs. He then locks in the sleeper hold and Ciampa passes out.

Winner: Gunther (c)

Imperium attacks Ciampa in the ring as Gunther leaves. Johnny Gargano’s music plays and he comes out to help Ciampa. Gargano takes out Imperium. Gargano and Ciampa hit the DIY on Vinci.
