During the press conference after AEW WrestleDream, Tony Khan was asked about Jade Cargill leaving AEW. When he was asked about her contract status just a couple of months ago, he had a much different response, because he really thought she was going to stay. After all, TK offered Jade Cargill more money than she asked for to stay.
“I knew Jade’s contract was running up, and I was very interested in having her, and I made an offer, a very big offer. I thought it was fair, and then she asked for a bigger offer and I went up again. I kinda thought that was gonna do it, and it didn’t which I was surprised, because to be honest, I came up with a number that was higher than her original ask. So, I don’t know what I’d have to do at that point, so I was surprised.”
Tony Khan said that he hoped that Jade Cargill would stay. Then he decided to give Cargill “the best possible exit” from the company. He tried to give her a classy sendoff for Jade Cargill, and that is what happened.
Tony Khan stated that Tony Schiavone told him that he’s a “classy guy” after letting Jade Cargill leave like she did. He also noted that the former TBS Champion is welcome back in the company if she ever wants to return.
Before Jade Cargill left AEW, she made it very clear that she wasn’t leaving for financial reasons. If Tony Khan was really offering her more money than she asked for to stay, then that is 100% the truth. After all, Cargill and her husband, former MLB player Brandon Phillips, don’t need the money at all.
Jade Cargill is going to be a big deal in WWE. Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE’s creative team is pitching ideas for her return. It appears that WWE is going to take good care of her.
