WWE’s Internal Reaction To Becky Lynch’s NXT Title Win

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Becky Lynch and Tiffany Stratton’s September 12th match on NXT brought an “ecstatic” reaction internally.

Of particular note, WWE were ecstatic about the huge numbers relatively speaking that Becky Lynch vs. Tiffany Stratton drew for their September 12 NXT Title match. It was the largest number in almost three years, and the first time they peaked at over one million viewers in even longer than that.

The outlet also reported that they had conversations with WWE sources, who said that there has been a recent heightened emphasis placed on the NXT viewership figures on Tuesday nights. This is reportedly a significant factor in why Judgment Day, Becky Lynch, and others have started to make regular appearances on NXT.

According to WWE sources, the reason behind this is straightforward and financially driven. WWE aims to boost their Tuesday television viewership numbers to enhance the appeal of their rights fee deal or package to potential partners. Demonstrating that minor adjustments can enhance these ratings is advantageous. This development occurred in advance of WWE’s announcement regarding Smackdown’s move to the USA Network.
