Randy Savage is also one of the most beloved pro wrestling legends of all time. Savage was a big part of WCW as he had many feuds there. However, he never went to WWE after the company was bought out. Jim Ross has now shed light on the reason behind Savage never returning to WWE after his WCW exit.

‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage left WWE and made his way to WCW on the December 3, 1994 episode of WCW Nitro. He would eventually part ways with the company in 1999 and never looked back. WCW would ultimately be sold to WWE back in 2001. While WWE hired many former WCW talent, Randy Savage was not one of them.

While speaking on Grillin’ JR podcast, Jim Ross talked about Randy Savage never making his way to WWE after WCW was bought out.

Ross revealed that it was largely due to Savage being difficult to get along with. Ross added that Vince McMahon didn’t want someone who might have been problematic and Savage was one of them.

”I didn’t enjoy working with him. It wasn’t because of his lack of talent, he was just hard to get along with and second-guessed everything. But was he a star? Oh my god yes absolutely. At one time Vince said Savage was as hot as anybody we had on the roster, including Hulk and that’s hard to say and it maybe an eye-rolling thing to viewers listening to the show. But Randy got hot as well and that was because of Vince’s booking and allowing Savage to contribute in a controlled way with his own Creative.

So, uh, but, Savage wasn’t a popular choice to come back into the locker room and come back into the team. For whatever reason there were, he was daunting to work with at times. And you know when you’re not hot, the last thing you want is have a talent come in that you perceive might be negative and might be problematic.

Randy’s situation was he’s a smart guy, he needed to be on top and apparently Vince was just not ready for Savage to be back on top. He enver made it back. Hogan made it back, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall made it back. Lots of guys made it back, but not Randy Savage.”

Randy Savage was also said to be more emotional than CM Punk backstage in WWE. Regardless, his contributions to the business will never be forgotten but fans will always wonder how Savage would have fared in WWE in the 2000s.

What’s your view on what Jim Ross said? Do you think Randy Savage would have been booked well if he returned to WWE during the early 2000s? Share your thoughts in the comments!
