Following Andrade El Idolo’s recent loss to Jay White on Collision, he faces another Bullet Club Gold member, Juice Robinson, who played a role in his defeat.
In another matchup, Best Friends square off against The Kingdom.
Our cold open promos included remarks from the participants in the all-star eight-man tag team match.
Andrade El Idolo vs Juice Robinson
There were no antics from Robinson or the Gunns due to their displeasure with the attack on Bullet Club Gold leader Jay White during Wednesday’s Dynamite. The match started without the usual collar and elbow tie-up, with Andrade quickly targeting the Figure Four, from which Robinson escaped to the outside. Robinson attempted to bait Andrade, but Andrade evaded the attack and maintained control. He executed a high crossbody and followed it with the Three Amigos for a nearfall.
Robinson managed to avoid a frog splash, but Andrade adjusted his position on the top rope and executed a moonsault onto all three Bullet Club Gold members outside the ring. Robinson distracted the referee, allowing the Gunns to pull Andrade off the apron and attack him. Robinson dropped Andrade on the apron and followed with an elbow strike. In the ring, Robinson performed a neckbreaker for a nearfall.
Robinson delivered a senton for another nearfall. Andrade reversed an Irish Whip and attempted the ten punches in the corner. After the ninth punch, Robinson pulled Andrade out of the corner and slammed him face-first into the turnbuckle. Robinson then executed a cannonball in the corner while a picture-in-picture commercial break aired.
As we returned from the break, Andrade fought out of a headlock but was taken down by a side suplex from Robinson. Andrade countered with a powerful chop and proceeded to target Robinson’s leg with a pair of Dragon Screw leg whips. CJ, known as the Hot and Flexible CJ, was seen observing the match, scouting for talent. Robinson got his knees up to counter Andrade’s double jump moonsault and then delivered a leg lariat for a nearfall. Andrade broke free from Robinson’s finishing facebuster attempt, sending Robinson into the corner.
Robinson placed the referee in front of him to block Andrade’s double knees, then poked Andrade in the eyes. Robinson executed a layout powerbomb for a nearfall. He climbed to the top rope for a high crossbody, but Andrade turned it into a Figure Four attempt. Robinson managed a small package for a nearfall. Andrade reversed a rollup and struck with a spinning back elbow. He finished the match with a hammerlock DDT for the pin, gaining revenge against Bullet Club Gold. The Gunns’ interference in the Figure Eight attempt led to their ejection from ringside.
Tony Schiavone interviewed Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega backstage. Jericho emphasized their history and the role it played in shaping AEW’s early days. Despite their personal differences, they agreed to have each other’s backs tonight and at WrestleDream when facing their common enemy in the Don Callis Family.
The episode also featured the second part of Toni Storm: Portrait of a Star. Storm expressed that she believes she is reaching her peak despite losing the title at Grand Slam. She reminisced about the simpler times when she could win the crowd’s love with a playful act but acknowledged that today’s wrestling demands more. Storm vowed to show everyone what a true star in this business looks like.
Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta) vs The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)
The Kingdom had targeted the Best Friends after a four-way tag match at Rampage: Grand Slam, blaming them for the loss. The Kingdom arrived with suitcases, suggesting they had come straight from the airport after tending to Roderick Strong. The Kingdom initiated the match aggressively but had to retreat when the Best Friends attempted dual piledrivers. Beretta and Taylor initially controlled Bennett, but Taven’s tag-in led to Beretta being dropped by a dropkick. Bennett and Taven sent Taylor out of the ring with a baseball slide, and Bennett avoided a spear from Beretta, eventually driving Taylor into a chair as we went to a commercial break.
Taylor struck Bennett with a jumping knee as the action resumed. Beretta entered the ring and launched an offensive frenzy, catching Taven with a dive and executing a half-and-half suplex. Beretta followed up with a double dropkick targeting both Kingdom members, but Taven halted his momentum with an enzuigiri. Taylor delivered a Sole Food to Taven on the apron, and Beretta connected with a tornado DDT, resulting in a nearfall.
The Kingdom executed a double team move on Beretta and then dispatched Taylor on the outside. Bennett attempted to set up Beretta for a piledriver on the steps, but Beretta reversed it into a Death Valley Driver on the steps. The Best Friends delivered a Doomsday Knee and shared a big hug with the audience. They proceeded to execute dual piledrivers, but Bennett, the legal man, managed to get his foot on the ropes at the count of two.
Some clever maneuvering enabled Bennett to strike both Beretta and Taylor in a sensitive area, followed by the Kingdom hitting the Hail Mary on Taylor to secure the victory.
After the match, Taven took the microphone and informed Bennett that they needed to catch their red-eye flight to return to Roderick Strong. Taven had a message for Adam Cole, stating that Cole had postponed his surgery for doctor meetings. He invited Cole to join them at Strong’s residence if their friendship meant anything to him.
Alex Marvez was backstage searching for Prince Nana and eventually found him with Don Callis. Callis left without uttering a word. Nana stated that once the Gates of Agony were finished with Omega & Jericho, they would be in a profitable position.
A brief video package showcased the upcoming Julia Hart vs. Kris Statlander TBS Title match at WrestleDream.
Julia Hart vs Vertvixen
The audience chanted for Defy, the promotion where Vertvixen regularly competes in the Seattle area. Hart initiated the match by taking Vertvixen down with a clothesline and then roughhousing her on the mat. Hart continued to club on Vertvixen before Vertvixen managed to evade a corner charge and counter with a pair of forearms in the corner. Hart thwarted a charging Vertvixen with a boot to the face before sealing the victory with a moonsault.
Following the match, Hart took the microphone and called out Kris Statlander. Statlander made her entrance, accompanied by the Best Friends, to even the odds with Brody King. Both women sent their male companions to the outside, but Hart retreated before a physical altercation could ensue. Statlander referred to herself as the “defeater of the undefeated” and declared that Hart’s time would come to an end tomorrow night. It was a solid segment.
Next, a video package featured Claudio Castagnoli, who expressed that he didn’t need a championship belt to behave like a champion. He then issued a challenge for WrestleDream, which was answered by Josh Barnett, leading to a match being signed for the WrestleDream Zero Hour.
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega vs the Gates of Agony
Liona initiated the match against Jericho, showing resilience to Jericho’s chops and responding with a headbutt. The Gates of Agony employed double-team tactics on Jericho, who struggled to break free from their corner. Jericho managed to boot Liona when attempting a back body drop and then tagged in Omega. Omega didn’t face any resistance from Liona against the turnbuckles, necking him on the ropes and delivering a high crossbody. Omega and Jericho cooperated to execute a double suplex on Liona before sharing a fist bump.
Despite Liona’s attempts to fight back, Omega and Jericho sent him down with a double shoulder block. Prince Nana’s interference allowed Liona to shoulder block Omega into Jericho, knocking Jericho off the apron. Kaun tagged in and performed a series of suplexes, securing a nearfall. They entangled Omega in the ropes, with Kaun hitting a backstabber and Liona following up with a senton onto the pile.
Following a commercial break, Omega battled out of the corner and executed a hurricanrana on Kaun. Jericho was tagged in and embarked on a frenzied offensive, first dropping Kaun with a double axe handle and then connecting with the Lionsault. Jericho attempted to apply the Walls of Jericho, but Kaun managed to stand up. Jericho went for the Judas Effect but was met with a discus lariat from Liona. Liona then charged at Omega in the corner but missed and was dropkicked off the apron. Jericho capitalized by delivering the Codebreaker to Kaun, followed by Omega’s V-Trigger. Omega proceeded to dive onto Liona, allowing Jericho to secure the victory using the Walls of Jericho.
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega win
After the match, Jericho took the microphone and expressed that their performance tonight proved they could work together. Omega added that this went beyond their personal issues and was about Don Callis. Omega revealed that Callis had once manipulated him, but he was now awake and aware. Omega disclosed that Callis had spent $30,000 on flights for both himself and Takeshita in an attempt to harm Kota Ibushi, but it wasn’t sufficient, and the original Alpha would bring about the end of Don Callis. Jericho referred to Sammy Guevara as a true Judas and stated that he would assume the role of the villain at WrestleDream, intent on ruining Guevara’s life.
A video featuring The Righteous played next, in which they claimed that no one could inflict as much harm on them as they could on themselves. They asserted their intention to fracture the bond between Cole and MJF by seizing the ROH World Tag Team Titles.
A video package was shown for the Darby Allin vs. Christian Cage TNT Title match at WrestleDream. Allin expressed his anticipation for headlining a PPV and how the TNT Title validates him. Cage explained that he requested this best-of-three falls match to expose Allin in his hometown.
The Righteous vs Travis Williams & Judas Icarus
Vincent made an entrance with crutches but discarded them swiftly. The local crowd chanted “Defy” and saw their hometown favorites gain a quick advantage over Vincent. Vincent countered with a back elbow that dropped Icarus before tagging in Dutch. Dutch absorbed Icarus’ strikes and retaliated with a chop. Dutch and Vincent teamed up to pummel their opponents before sealing the victory with the Autumn Sunshine on Icarus.
After the match, Vincent grabbed the microphone and directed Dutch to observe the audience, referring to MJF as the devil manipulating the liar Adam Cole. They aimed to win the titles and leave the Devil with one hoof, just like Cole. Dutch produced a wooden board and a chair, placing the board between Icarus’ feet and ruthlessly smashing his foot with the chair before departing.
We received a video package for the WrestleDream match between Eddie Kingston & Katsuyori Shibata, competing for both the ROH World & NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship.
A rundown of the WrestleDream card was presented. A mixed eight-person tag match was added to Zero Hour, featuring Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty, Mercedes Martinez, & Diamante against Keith Lee, Satoshi Kojima, Athena, & Billie Starkz.
Tony Schiavone interviewed TMDK (Shane Haste, Mikey Nicholls, & Bad Dude Tito) backstage. The Acclaimed interrupted them, emphasizing their popularity. Haste attempted a freestyle, with mixed results.
Aussie Open, Big Bill, and Ricky Starks vs Blackpool Combat Club & FTR
Zack Sabre Jr. joined the commentary alongside Jim Ross. Starks initially faced off against Wheeler but quickly tagged out when Yuta entered the ring. Fletcher and Yuta showcased their speed in the ring. Harwood entered but found himself in the opposite corner, leading to a tag from Davis. Chops were exchanged, and the action spilled outside, resulting in a standoff as the broadcast cut to commercial.
Harwood executed a back suplex upon our return from commercial break. He struggled to reach for a tag, but Fletcher halted his efforts with a clothesline to the back of the neck. Harwood fell victim to a strike between the uprights from Fletcher before tagging in Wheeler, who gained momentum against Aussie Open. Wheeler dispatched Big Bill to the floor, allowing Fletcher to deliver a powerful bodyslam.
Yuta sneaked in a blind tag, launching an offensive assault on Fletcher. Starks attempted to intervene, but Yuta outsmarted him, striking both Starks and Bill with hammer and anvil elbows. Yuta fended off Starks and Bill until Starks lured him into Bill’s big boot. The opposing team proceeded to work on Yuta, concluding their sequence with a stylish back suplex throw followed by a powerbomb, earning a close nearfall.
Following another commercial break, Yuta took down Starks while Danielson rallied the crowd, eager for a tag. Danielson received the tag and dominated Starks, executing a dive onto Starks outside the ring. Danielson followed up with a missile dropkick and unleashed running dropkicks in the corner. Starks halted his momentum with a clothesline before attempting the Rochambeau. Danielson managed to slip away, but Starks executed a tornado DDT and tagged in Big Bill.
Bill aimed for a chokeslam, but Danielson turned it into the LeBell Lock. Fletcher intervened to break the hold, resulting in a wild brawl involving all participants. Each member of Danielson’s team landed significant kicks on their respective opponents. Harwood delivered a diving headbutt to Bill before Fletcher interrupted the pin. Harwood and Bill remained in the ring, where Bill narrowly avoided a corner charge but countered a Sharpshooter attempt. Bill and Starks executed a combination of a spear and chokeslam to secure the victory. The finish seemed somewhat abrupt, possibly due to a missed cue, as it appeared that no one was prepared for it to conclude the match.
After the bout, Danielson struck Bill with a running knee, prompting everyone to brawl their way to the backstage area. Danielson then directed his attention to Sabre, who entered the ring. Sabre pushed Danielson several times before Danielson responded with a slap to the face. Danielson attempted the LeBell Lock, but Sabre managed to escape. They engaged in a tense staredown as the show faded to black.
These are live results, so keep refreshing as the show goes on!
