WWE’s NXT brand has seen a new focus in recent memory, as main roster talent have frequented the developmental brand. At this point, it’s nothing new for fans to see a RAW or SmackDown Superstar in NXT, thus encouraging them to make NXT a part of their weekly viewing habits. That is the goal, and things seem to be working as Vince McMahon directed.

During the media conference for No Mercy promotion, Shawn Michaels fielded questions about many different topics. During that time, HBK also said that he would welcome CM Punk to NXT.
Shawn Michaels was also asked about the increasing NXT viewership number. He humorously mentioned that he isn’t inclined towards statistics, but he gained substantial insights into them during his tenure as the WWE titleholder and now as the person in charge.
HBK said that Vince McMahon’s directive was to concentrate on the 18-34 demographic to reach a younger audience. That is what Mr. McMahon said was his goal, so the Showstopper has been focusing on that demographic in every way he can.
Shawn Michaels went on to explain that they view the main roster as a conduit, from which emerge NXT stars, with the aim of enticing fans to keep watching. He further elaborated that when prominent figures like Becky Lynch make appearances, they hope to introduce a significant portion of NXT talent to the audience, with the expectation that these viewers will return for future broadcasts.
Shawn Michaels went on to say that he would put his NXT roster against any other pro wrestling roster on the planet. That seems like quite a challenge as he continues to focus on the demographic that Vince McMahon told him was his priority.
Only time will tell how WWE’s NXT brand is considered in a year from now. They have certainly grown a lot since NXT 2.0’s failure, because that did not have the desired result at all. It seems that the company’s new formula, with more synergy between the main roster and developmental, is really working.
