During the media conference to promote NXT No Mercy, Shawn Michaels was asked about the topic of NXT’s position in the media rights landscape, He mentioned that determining that is the responsibility of individuals with greater expertise, and he is comfortable with that arrangement.

Shawn Michaels said that he believes NXT should primarily be on a network that appeals to a younger and more contemporary audience, aligning with NXT’s youthful vibe, much like college football. In the end, any network should want NXT.

“I would prefer to be on what I would feel like would be a younger, hipper kind of network. That’s just me, because that’s what NXT is. I think it’s like college football. There’s an energy and excitement about NXT, and again, our partners at USA have been fantastic over the years,a dn we have proof to show that we’ve grown in that demographic, but sometimes i wonder if we have a lead-in for a like, a Marvel movie, then it would be an opportunity to open ourselves to a new fan base. People smarter than me will be handling that. I do know that again, we love doing this, I think you’d be crazy not to want our show on your network. I’ll be waiting with you guys to see where we end up.”

Shawn Michaels went on to say that, with television being down, NXT has been able to boost viewership. That is quite a statement, and the proof is in the numbers.

WWE has a lot of options for the future, and there is a massive amount of money to be made as well. Odds are, wherever they land with RAW and NXT, WWE will be raking in the cash. Fans may just have to figure out how to alter their television viewing habits a bit to catch the show.
