Dakota Kai, faced her share of ups and downs in recent times. After her release in May 2022, she made a surprising return during SummerSlam, joining Damage CTRL alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky. Although she experienced championship success following her return, things took a turn for the worse due to an injury.

Dakota Kai has history of injuries, and this time, it’s an ACL injury that required surgery for repair. Unfortunately, it will still be a while before she can step back into the wrestling ring.

During a recent Twitch stream, a fan asked Kai about her return to wrestling. She shared that she’s been working hard on her legs lately and expects to make her in-ring comeback in January or February of the upcoming year. Wrestling fans will undoubtedly be looking forward to seeing her back in action once she’s fully recovered.

”My recovery is going great, it’s literally just doing leg day most days. Not on the days I travel, but on the weekends, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so I permanently have leg DOMS. I started running last week and I’ve only run in a couple of times, but it’s like in a weird machine that makes you lighter. They just want me to wear that [the knee brace] ringside so I’m protected.

I have to wear that when I start wrestling in January/February too. Everyone was like ‘Stupid, stupid, like oh my god she’s trying to throw us off by saying she’s coming back in February.’ Like guys, I literally don’t know. Also, things can happen too if at that point, if I’m not as far along as they thought I was, they could add a few more weeks, or they can say that I’m good, you know what I mean? Regardless of what I say, you guys won’t believe me anyway.”

WWE also changed plans in order to keep her on television despite her injury. We will have to wait and see how the company will continue to use her as part of Damage CTRL until her in-ring return next year.
