AEW brought the go-home episode of Dynamite before WrestleDream this week. The company included some exciting matches, and interesting segments, but things needed to be shifted around before the show when one champion was finally cleared to compete.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Fenix was cleared to compete late in the afternoon. This caused AEW to change around a few plans.

“It almost didn’t happen, because Fenix was not cleared. It was up in the air whether he would be cleared. He had not been cleared. He did get cleared for this match, but it wasn’t until late in the afternoon, so they had apparently put together a show without him, and then they had to change it to put that match with Jarrett on, which was a late addition to the show.”

It was also noted that “a lot of planned stuff had to change because of all that.” On top of Fenix getting cleared to compete, Jon Moxley wasn’t able to appear, so that certainly gave AEW some interesting options.

We will have to see how things pan out for Fenix as AEW International Champion. They can certainly do a lot with him with the title. Only time will tell how long he carries the title in AEW at this point, but at least he was able to wrestle this week.

Ringside News will also have full coverage of AEW WrestleDream, Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision, including entire play-by-play results in our AEW results section.

What’s your take on Fenix getting cleared at the last minute like that? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you think!
