Mustafa Ali had a lot of potential after his main roster debut in 2019. Unfortunately, he was mostly wasted on the main roster due to being stuck in uninteresting storylines. His NXT stint didn’t end the way he wanted to either as Ali was released last week. Trick Williams ended up replacing him at NXT No Mercy and it appears Ali commented on being replaced.

Mustafa Ali’s arrival in NXT was met with a lot of positive reactions, but fans were disheartened by the fact he didn’t win the NXT North American Championship. Ali announced recently that he is no longer working with WWE, shocking fans all over the world.

Mustafa Ali was scheduled to compete against Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Title at No Mercy, but plans had to change after his release. During NXT this week, Trick Williams won a fatal four-way match to become the new #1 contender for Dominik Mysterio.

Mustafa Ali was clearly keeping tabs on what was going on in NXT, as he took to Twitter and commented on Trick Williams replacing him at NXT No Mercy. Ali stated that Williams deserved the opportunity.

good for trick, deserves it.

Mustafa Ali’s WWE release was also a big surprise in NXT. We’ll have to see whether Mustafa Ali will make his way to Tony Khan’s company, once his 90-day non-compete clause ends, as many feel that will happen.

What’s your opinion on Trick Williams replacing Mustafa Ali at NXT No Mercy? Are you sad Ali is no longer in WWE? Sound off in the comments!
