AEW Dynamite Results Coverage, Reactions & Highlights For September 27, 2023

It’s Wednesday night, and you know what that means! AEW Dynamite will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage.

Tonight promises another exciting night of action as it’s the last episode of Dynamite on the road to WrestleDream. Scheduled for tonight is the Fatal 4-Way Match between Penta El Zero Miedo, Matt Jackson, Orange Cassidy, and Austin Gunn. We’ll also hear from MJF and Adam Cole. The complete match card is as follows:

The opening package for the show airs.

AEW International Championship: Rey Fenix (c) vs. Jeff Jarrett

Rey Fenix’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Jeff Jarrett’s theme song plays and he comes down to the ring.

Rey Fenix dives onto Jeff. Fenix attacks Jeff. Jarrett sends him into the barricade. Fenix hits Jay Lethal with a hurricanrana. Karen gets involved. Fenix superkicks Sonjay Dutt and Jeff. He sends Jarrett into the ring to start the match.

Fenix with a moonsault. He tries to pick up Jeff but his back gives out. Jeff attacks Fenix. Fenix comes back with a couple of kicks. Satnam gets on the apron and Jeff takes advantage with a DDT.

*Commercial break*

Fenix chops Jeff but he takes out the knees of Fenix. Jeff sends him out of the ring. Karen tries to get involved but Aubrey stops her. Fenix with an arm drag, rolls through and hits the stomp. Cover! 1…..2….kick out. Fenix with a thrust kick. He climbs the top rope and kicks Jay Lethal with a rope walk. Sonjay distracts the referee and Jeff hits a low blow. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Jeff hits the stroke. Cover! 1…….2……Fenix gets his foot on the rope.

Satnam Singh is on the apron and Fenix dropkikcs him. Jeff goes for a figure four leg lock but Fenix rolls him up for the win.

Winner: Rey Fenix (c)

A video plays of Cole and MJF. They go on a boat ride. MJF says Cole was on the phone with Roderick Strong for so long and he couldn’t come out with him to the ring. Cole says Roderick is like a brother to him. MJF asks him to hold his beer and goes for his Dynamite Diamond Ring and Cole says they need to talk about this and it is normal to have more than one friend. MJF says it is not for him but he supports Cole.

A video plays of Don Callis and Takeshita and Callis says he is in Tokyo in search of Kota Ibushi. Callis says Omega may need to find a new partner after they find Ibushi.

*Commercial break*

Renee is in the ring and she introduces Don Callis. Callis’ entrance music plays and he comes out with Takeshita. Callis says he is happy that Sammy Guevara is free of the toxic influence of Jericho and he introduces him. Sammy Guevara’s music hits and he walks to the ring.

Callis says they went to Tokyo and he asks to roll the tape. A video plays of them outside Ibushi’s dojo. They meet a trainer and attack him. Ibushi gets in the ring and brawls with Takeshita. Callis hits Ibushi with an umbrella and runs away. Takeshita hits Ibushi with a kettlebell. He chokes Ibushi. Callis Ibushi is not safe anywhere.

Callis says the Don Callis Family has never been stronger. Sammy says he is the hero. He says Jericho is the villain. He says Jericho held him back for four years and he was great without Jericho. Sammy says he thought Jericho would pass him the torch one day but Callis showed him that Jericho is selfish and so he grabbed the torch and now he is going to be the star he was born to be. Callis then says they are going to take everything away from Omega at WrestleDream.

A video package plays of Ricky Starks who says they that Bryan Danielson never tapped him or pinned him. Yuta comes in and says he was wrong for putting his hands on him. Starks warns him against putting his hands on him again. Yuta says all Starks is entitled. He says he takes worse beatings from the Blackpool Combat Club every day and he gets up. He then challenges him to a match at WrestleDream and Starks walks away.

Nick Jackson vs. Brian Cage vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Nick Jackson’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Brian Cage’s theme song plays and he walks out to the ring. Claudio Castagnoli’s music hits and he walks to the ring.

The match begins and Cage attacks Nick. He then throws him out of the ring. Cage kicks Caludio. Claudio comes back with a suplex. Cage quickly recovers and hits a suplex. Claudio gets back up and exchanges strikes with Cage. Nick comes in and takes out Claudio and Cage. He then dives onto them.

Nick sends Cage into the ring. Cage attacks Nick in the corner. Nick comes back and hits a backstabber on Cage. Claudio with a high boot to Nick.

*Commercial break*

Cage attacks Claudio in the corner and hits a German suplex. Nick attacks Cage in the corner. He then hits a bulldog. Nick with a face buster on Cage. He then follows it with a moonsault on Claudio.

Nick hits the 450 splash on Cage. Cover! 1…..2……kick out. Claudio pulls Nick out of the ring and sends him into the turnbuckle. Claudio with the giant swing. Cover! 1……2…..Nick makes the save. He sends Claudio out of the ring and goes for a crossbody but Cage catches him and hits the F-5. Cover! 1…..2….kick out.

Cage with a suplex on Claudio from the apron to the ring. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out. Nick superkicks Cage. Claudio with an uppercut to Cage. Nick superkicks Claudio but he comes back with an uppercut. Claudio with a lariat on Cage. Claudio with the anvil strike. He then hits the Riccola bomb. Nick with a hurricanrana on Claudio and he pins Cage.

Winner: Nick Jackson

*Commercial break*

MJF and Adam Cole’s music plays and they come out to the ring. MJF places a chair in the ring and Cole sits down. Cole says this is a sad chapter because he got hurt really bad last week. He says his ankle broke in three different places and he has to go get surgery. He promises to get back as soon as possible. He says they are the ROH World Tag Team Champions and they have to relinquish the titles since they can’t defend them.

MJF stops him and says he didn’t wrestle twice in a night to relinquish their titles to the Righteous. He says Cole wouldn’t be hurt without him. He says he knows how much those titles mean to him and he wants to make sure the titles will be waiting for him when he returns. MJF says he will defend the tag titles in a handicap match.

Roderick Strong comes out in a wheelchair. Strong says he needs Cole more than ever right now. MJF stops him. He says Strong is Cole’s friend and he respects that. He asks Cole to do what he has to do but he will be waiting for him when he comes back. They hug it out in the ring. Cole then goes and joins Strong.

Bullet Club Gold’s music hits and they come out. Jay White approaches the ring. Jay White says everybody has earned MJF’s voice enough and now, they would like to hear his own voice. MJF says Jay’s mic work won’t work on him. He then mocks White’s goatee.

He says as he got bigger the goalpost moved and it never bothered him until he read that he’s not as good as Jay. He says he now understands why it offended him. He says everyone knows that he is better than White. He says the show is all about him when he is in the ring because nobody is on his level.

MJF says Jay is very talented but he is not on his level. He says Jay White has been given everything and he was handed the keys to Bullet Club but if he plucks it away he is just boring. He says Jay is trying to steal his spotlight. He says Jay is all hype. He then advises Jay to leave the ring or people will learn that he is better than Jay.

White says this is why he came out here but he is a little bit let down. He says something is off about MJF these past few days. He says the fans don’t love MJF as much as they love Cole. He says this situation with Cole is almost his fall. He says MJF wouldn’t have tagged with him had he not injured Cole. He blames MJF for Cole’s broken ankle and he says MJF’s neck is worse off after his match and he is going to ruin his life from now on.

White says he is going to take the AEW World Champion from him. He says he will be a truly elite champion. Jay says MJF will the fans but he will have the AEW World Championship. He says this is his era because MJF has gone soft. MJF says Jay doesn’t have a clue what he is capable of. MJF removes his shirt and goes to fight Jay White who escapes the ring.

Jim Ross sits down with Christian Cage and Darby Allin. Ross this match at WrestleDream is too important for the company. Christian says he has been the TNT Champion for several weeks and he proved he is better than Allin. Ross says he has lost to Allin but what makes him think he can win against Allin? Cage says those were fluke wins and Allin is not the wrestler he is. He says he wants to see what Allin can do when he wrestles.

Cage asks if Darby’s uncle is going to be in the crowd. He narrates how his uncle died after taking his nephew out while being drunk. Darby says he can’t be beaten at Seattle. Cage asks Darby to bring his entire family. Darby says Cage wants Nick Wayne because he can beat him and he challenges Cage to show up without Luchasaurus. Cage says Nick Wayne needs a real role model who doesn’t hide behind his face paint. Darby removes his face paint. Cage tells him he is going to be TNT Champion for a long time.

Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Matt Jackson vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Austin Gunn

Orange Cassidy’s music plays and he walks to the ring.

*Commercial break*

All the participants are in the ring. The match begins and Cassidy sends Austin out of the ring. Austin pulls him out and sends him into the barricade. Matt hits Penta with a DDT. Matt sends Austin out of the ring. Cassidy with an arm drag sending Matt out of the ring.

Penta hits Cassidy with a dropkick. Penta knocks down Austin. He hits Matt with a thrust kick. He does the same for Cassidy. Austin drops him from behind. Austin with multiple jabs on Cassidy.

*Commercial break*

Matt dives onto Penta. Cassidy climbs the top rope but is stopped by Austin. Cassidy knocks him down and dives onto Penta and Matt. Austin hits a neckbreaker on Cassidy. Penta hits the Canadian destroyer on Cassidy. Matt hits the the destroyer on Penta and Cassidy hits the destroyer on Matt. He does the same to Austin.

Penta goes for a splash in the corner and misses. Matt hits him with the sliced bread #2. He then hits a couple of northern lights suplex on Cassidy. He does the same to Penta and Austin. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Matt goes for the BTE trigger but is stopped bu Penta whi hits an enzuigiri. He hits Austin with the sling blade. Cassidy hits Penta with the orange punch and follows it with the beach break on Matt. Austin hits the famousser on Cassidy. Cover! 1….2…kick out. They all superkick each other. Austin pulls Penta out of the ring and Cassidy hits the Orange punch on Matt for the win.

Winner: Orange Cassidy

Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart

Julia Hart’s music plays and she comes out to the ring with Brody King. Willow Nightingale’s theme song plays and she walks to the ring.

*Commercial break*

The match begins and Willows knocks down Julia. She attacks her multiple times in the corner. Julia comes back and attacks Willow who recovers and knocks her down. Willow with a suplex. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

Willow hits a bodyslam on Julia. She does it again. Julia rolls out of the ring and goes under the ring. Brody distracts Willow and Julia attacks her from behind and hits her with a lariat.

*Commercial break*

Willow slams Julia on the mat. Willow attacks her in the corner and knocks her down. She follows it with a spinebuster. Julia comes back and knocks her down. He locks in Hartless but Willow gets to the rope. Willow hits a spear on Julia. She sets her up in the tree of woe and goes for a cannonball and misses. Julia hits a moonsault for the win.

Winner: Julia Hart

Julia locks in Hartless after the match. Kris Statlander’s music plays and she comes out and chases Julia who gets behind Brody King.

Swerve’s music plays and he comes out with Prince Nana.

*Commercial break*

Renee is in the ring and she introduces Hangman Adam Page. His music plays and he walks to the ring. Renee says The Elite and Mogul Embassy have been banned from ringside. She asks Page to sign the contract.

Swerve says he is enjoying this new aggression from Page but it’s too late. He says Seattle is his house. He says they couldn’t be more opposite from each other. He then says he is never going to be like Page.

Page says Swerve is fired up and he should be. He says Swerve’s word stung him a bit a few weeks ago and he thanked him. He says he knew something was up with himself. He says he beat Jon Moxley in a Texas Deathmatch and he reunited with The Elite and it felt like he should’ve been the happiest man in the world but that little cloud came back. He says he knew he couldn’t do anything about it.

He says he weathered the storm and he is still here. He says he has come to realize the fans deserve the best of him and he deserves it for himself. He says Swerve will get the best of Hangman.

Swerve says that was pathetic. He says this isn’t personal between them. He says he might have mental health problems because he makes an enemy out of everyone every day but that motivates him to be better.

Page says maybe Swerve will become an AEW World Champion and they can sit and argue about his opportunities but he always knocked it out of the park. He says Swerve should want this spot but he doesn’t have what it takes to fill his boots. Swerve slaps him and signs the contract. Page stabs his hand with the pen. Security officials separate them. Backstage a group of men attacks Jay White viciously.
