AEW opened their doors in 2019 with a lot of fanfare attached. Years later, some big questions are starting to come to light like, who really owns the company?

During the media call to promote WrestleDream, Tony Khan was asked about rumors about Warner Bros Discovery owning a piece of AEW. This is a popular theory, and people like Eric Bischoff have even proclaimed that they believe it to be true.

While discussing what AEW should do about CM Punk, when that was a topic of conversation, Eric Bischoff suggested that AEW would be opening Warner Bros Discovery to liabilities if they kept Punk on.

“At some point, Tony is not only responsible for AEW, he’s exposing Warner Discovery to litigation, because they own part of the company. If someone decides to sue, aside from the fact that the Khans have a lot of money, so does Warner Bros Discovery, and they’re gonna get entangled.”

To that question during the WrestleDream media call about Warner Bros Discovery owning a piece of AEW, Tony Khan said that the financial and structural aspect of the company has been kept quiet. TK then said that he would be open to it in a future deal for them to have “a piece or a bigger piece” of AEW.

Tony Khan made it clear that he still has 100% voting control and would want to maintain that in any deal that is made. He wouldn’t mind having additional financial backing, but Khan would want to retain all creative control.

We will have to see if any deals are made in the future. It sounds like Tony Khan might entertain that thought, if he hasn’t already. That being said, he’s not looking to give up his creative vision for the company as the final word on AEW’s booking direction.
