WWE and UFC finalized their merger and TKO stock started trading in a big way. Cuts came soon after that, and a lot of people lost their jobs. Sadly, that also called for some creative changes.

Mustafa Ali’s name was a part of the long list of WWE releases last week. Sadly, the company fired over 100 office employees a week prior, and we are still getting new bits of information about that story.
Despite his impressive in-ring skills, Mustafa Ali never clinched a title in WWE and frequently vanished from television. Ali was among the superstars released yesterday, and the timing was quite unfortunate.
During a Mailbag video behind Fightful’s paywall, Sean Sapp remarked about Mustafa Ali’s release from the company. After all, he was a part of an ongoing storyline with Dominik Mysterio with the NXT North American Title in play.
It was revealed that he heard NXT higher-ups were not pleased with the choice to release Mustafa Ali just before his scheduled title bout against Dominik Mysterio at No Mercy. Sapp also mentioned they had arrangements in place and matches scheduled, but now they are unable to proceed due to Ali’s release.
We will have to see what Mustafa Ali does next. He could find his way to AEW, thanks to an old friend in Bryan Danielson. Only time will tell if he reaches his true potential outside WWE, but he will not have the opportunity to give that a shot.
