WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long remains one of the most beloved figures in the history of the company. His comedic timing made him a huge attraction as the Smackdown General Manager. Being a part of the business, he is aware of how dangerous it could be. It appears Long recalled the time he was handed a blade to slit Ric Flair’s throat.

Teddy Long is loved by fans and peers alike, but there are a select few pro wrestlers with whom he will never have a good relationship. This includes Ric Flair, with whom he had issues in the past.

While speaking on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Teddy Long recalled the time wrestling manager Gary Hart handed him a blade and instructed him to slit Ric Flair’s throat, if Flair continued to cause him trouble.

I was having problems with [Ric] Flair and I guess Gary [Hart] probably knew what was going on so he came to me one time and told me he made this blade and he said if Flair kept bothering me he told me to take that blade and cut his throat. My right hand to god I’d have no reason to lie.

Teddy Long also has no intention of returning to WWE in a full-time role. Regardless, such a story sheds light on how cutthroat and dangerous the pro wrestling industry can be.
