WWE is set to present an exciting episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX on September 23, 2023.

WWE SmackDown Results

The opening package for the show airs.

John Cena’s music plays and he comes down to the ring. Cena gets on the mic and says he has done a lot of roles since his return to the company. He says tonight is a special night because he doesn’t want to be a referee, host, or backstage correspondent but he came back to compete and he wants a match tonight.

He asks the fans permission to have a match tonight. The crowd cheers. Cena says he is angry with the Bloodline and he can fight both of them but he found himself a phenomenal partner.

AJ Styles’ theme song plays and he comes out to the ring. Styles gets on the mic and says Cena wants them to team against the Bloodline. Styles calls out the Bloodline. Jimmy Uso’s music plays and he comes out with Solo Sikoa. The Bloodline slowly backs off.

Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar vs. Street Profits

Rey Mysterio’s theme song plays and he comes out to the ring with Santos Escobar.

*Commercial break*

John Cena tries to convince Adam Pearce to make the match against Bloodline happen tonight but he is not successful.

Street Profits’ music plays and they come out to the ring with Bobby Lashley.

The match begins with Santos and Dawkins. Dawkins knocks him down. Santos comes back with a dropkick. Rey tags in. Dawkins knocks him down and tags out. Ford with a dropkick on Mysterio. Rey returns with a crossbody. Rey knocks Dawkins off the apron and he sends Ford out of the ring. Mysterio goes for a slide out of the ring and misses. Dawkins takes out Escobar.

*Commercial break*

Ford with a clothesline to Mysterio. Rey sends Ford into the turnbuckle. Rey tags out and Escobar attacks the Street Profits. Escobar with a crossbody. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Ford comes back with a kick and a splash. Cover! 1…2….kick out. Ford climbs the top rope but is stopped. Escobar hits a hurricanrana. Cover! 1……2….kick out. Escobar with the meteora in the corner.

He goes for the phantom driver but Ford escapes and kicks him. He tags out and Dawkins plants Escobar. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Rey tags in and hits a DDT. He goes for the 619 but Dawkins hits the spinebuster. Cover! 1….2….Escobar makes the save. Dawkins sends Mysterio outside. Bobby Lashley slams Dawkins on the apron. Dawkins goes for the powerbomb but Rey reverses and gets the pinfall.

Winner: Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar

Austin Theory comes out and argues with Michael Cole over the Rock’s video package.

*Commercial break*

Adam Pearce is arguing with Theory. They run into Brawling Brutes who make fun of him. Waller enters and says Brawling Brutes are jealous. Brawling Brutes challenges them to a match and Pearce sanctions it.

The Street Profits are backstage with Bobby Lashley who is angry with them and he says he will find someone who can win if they can’t get the job done.

WWE Women’s Championship: IYO SKY (c) vs. Asuka

Asuka’s music plays and she walks to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Paul Heyman is shown talking on the phone and Pearce approaches him and discusses something.

IYO SKY’s music plays and she comes out with Bayley and Dakota Kai. Charlotte Flair’s theme song plays and she comes out.

The match begins and Asuka takes down IYO SKY. Asuka offers a handshake but IYO is not interested. Asuka climbs the top rope but IYO takes her down. Asuka rolls out of the ring and IYO goes for a moonsault and misses. Asuka kicks her in the face.

*Commercial break*

Iyo with a springboard dropkick. IYO climbs the top rope but is stopped. Asuka kicks her multiple times. Asuka hits a superplex on IYO SKY. Asuka knocks her down. Cover! 1….2..kick out.

IYO comes back with a shote on Asuka. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Asuka locks in the modified kimura on IYO. She then transitions into the armbar. IYO fights out of it. IYO kicks Asuka in the face.

Asuka kicks IYO in the face and hits a shotgun dropkick. She hits her with multiple strikes. Cover! 1…2…kick out. Asuka transitions into the fujiwara armbar on IYO. Asuka climbs the second rope but is knocked off by IYO.

IYO hits a sunset flip powerbomb. Asuka goes for a kick and catches the post. IYO with a moonsault off the top rope onto Asuka on the outside.

*Commercial break(

IYO with a German suplex. Cover! 1….2….kick out. IYO locks in the crossface. Asuka rolls through and locks in the Asuka lock. IYO forces a break. Asuka with a kick to IYO. Asuka with the missile dropkick. Cover! 1…..2…..kick out.

Asuka locks in the armbar. She transitions into the Asuka lock. IYO fights out of it. But Asuka locks in the Asuka lock. Bayley puts IYO’s foot on the rope. Charlotte knocks down Bayley. IYO attacks Asuka from behind and hits the moonsault for the win.

Winner: IYO SKY (c)

The Bloodline is backstage and they are joined by Pearce. Jimmy invites him in. Pearce says he is here to discuss the terms of the tag team match. Heyman says he doesn’t care as long as it is tonight. Pearce says the match is at Fastlane. Jimmy says they will be in the ring to sign it. Heyman tells Jimmy decisions like that need authorization from Roman Reigns. Jimmy asks Heyman to let him know what he says. Solo says after tonight no one will be left to fight them at Fastlane. Solo also leaves and Heyman calls Roman Reigns.

Brawling Brutes vs. Grayson Waller & Austin Theory

Brawling Brutes’ entrance music plays and they walk to the ring.

*Commercial break*

A video package of Kit Wilson plays where he is saying that Prince suffered a serious injury and is now on the road to recovery. Highlights of Prince’s rehab plays. A doctor says he will be fine.

Grayson Waller’s music plays and he comes out. Austin Theory’s theme song plays and he joins him and they walk to the ring.

The match begins with Butch and Theory. Austin knocks down Butch. He viciously attacks Butch and tags out. Waller attacks Butch. Butch takes down Waller and goes to work on him. He attacks Waller in the corner and tags out.

Holland swings him around and follows it with a double under hook suplex. He attacks Waller in the corner and tags out. Butch attacks Waller. Butch is sent out of the ring. Butch and Holland hit the ten beats of the bodhran.

*Commercial break*

Theory attacks Butch in the corner. Waller also attacks Butch in the corner. Waller goes for the ten beats of the bodhran but BUtch snaps his fingers and tags out. Ridge with a gutbuster and a bell-to-belly suplex. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Theory tags in and attacks Ridge. Cover! 1….2….Butch makes the save. Waller is sent over the top rope. Ridge takes out Waller. He then hits a powerslam on Theory. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

Theory goes for A-Town Down but Ridge escapes and hits the Alabama slam. Cover! 1….2…kick out. Ridge locks in the Boston crab. Butch locks in a sleeper on Waller outside the ring. Waller escapes and hits the rolling stunner on Ridge. Theory hits the A-Town Down for the win.

Winner: Austin Theory & Grayson Waller

*Commercial break*

Pearce is in the ring for the contract signing. He introduces John Cena. Cena’s music plays and he runs down to the ring. He signs the contract. Pearce then introduces AJ Styles. Styles’ music plays but he doesn’t come out. Jimmy Uso is shown attacking Styles backstage. John Cena goes backstage to help him out.

Solo hits a splash on Styles through the equipment crates. WWE officials come out to check on Styles. Cena also checks on him.

*Commercial breaks*

AJ is being taken away on a stretcher. Heyman comes out to the ring. Karl tells Cena that he told AJ not to get involved in this Bloodline stuff. The ambulance leaves the arena.

Solo throws out all the chairs from the ring. Heyman introduces himself and says he has the contract in his hands which was signed by Cena without any tag team partner. Jimmy takes the mic and says if Cena was smart, he would go away in the ambulance with AJ Styles. He says Cena is gonna end up in an ambulance anyways. Cena comes out and attacks Solo Siko. He sends him into the steel steps. Cena then knocks down Jimmy Uso. He goes for an AA on Sikoa but Jimmy superkicks him. Sikoa hits the Samoan Spike.

Jimmy and Solo attack Cena. Solo hits another spike on Cena. Jimmy hits a splash off the top rope. Jimmy then signs the contract and hands it to Sikoa who also signs the contract. Jimmy hits another splash off the top rope.
