WWE just went through a string of releases. The main roster and NXT saw cuts, as a few people were ready to show the world what they could do. Apparently, the cuts aren’t over.
Matt Riddle has confirmed that he was released from WWE. He logged onto X and broke the news. Matt Riddle is no longer a WWE Superstar.
Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon.
We will have to see that the Original Bro does next. He was involved with Drew McIntyre in a storyline prior to disappearing from television. Of course, that controversy at JFK Airport occurred right before his release.
In case you need a refresher, Matt Riddle posted on Instagram that he was “sexually assaulted” by an officer at JFK Airport. This was a scene that was caused when Riddle created a disturbance, and then officers were called to the situation to handle things. Riddle went on to delete that post with the accusation.
Ringside News exclusively reported that we were told that multiple attempts were made to de-escalate the situation with Matt Riddle before things got physical. This situation at JFK airport was described as “a disturbance” caused by Riddle.
It was also told to us that Matt Riddle appeared to be “heavily intoxicated” at the time. Riddle then brushed off the suggestion to lodge a formal complaint. He was allegedly disruptive and caused officers to be called.
Matt Riddle dropped some throwback photos from his UFC days not too long ago. That being said, a UFC return isn’t likely, since Riddle has gone on record calling Dana White a “heartless moron.”
The King of Bros made some passive-aggressive references that things might not be okay. You also can’t discount the controversy surrounding his leaked sex tape, and the constant burials he receives online from his ex.
Matt Riddle just came back from a hiatus that cost him the latter portion of 2022 due to a stint in rehab. He was back on the road, and WWE was trying to work him back into things. Now, he is released.
Sadly, Randy Orton’s reported return will not include an RKBro reunion, which was arguably the best run of Riddle’s career in WWE.
Matt Riddle could have other options out there in the pro wrestling world, and elsewhere. That being said, he might have to avoid JFK Airport whenever he’s making travel arrangements.
In other news surrounding the recent releases, Mustafa Ali requested his release in 2021, and people in NXT had no idea he was on his way out. Also, Elias was pitching ideas to WWE creative up until a month before his release from the company. Paul Heyman also had Riddick Moss in mind as a top WWE main event level Superstar. Dolph Ziggler’s release was also a surprise, because the veteran’s contract wasn’t up until next Summer.
We will be here for more on the releases, and everything else that is coming in the pipeline, right here at Ringside News. We appreciate your clicks, and can’t wait to bring you news for years to come!
