WWE is making big moves in practically every sector, and that includes television. Traditional television might be overlooked by some, but there is still a lot of money in exposure on NBC, especially on primetime.
The press release from WWE also revealed that the company is getting four prime-time specials on NBC. This is the first time that has happened in years.
The SmackDown announcement was a big deal for WWE, and it overshadowed something else that made the press release. WWE will produce four primetime specials per year that will air on NBC, marking the first time WWE will air on the network in primetime.
WWE used to have an amazing partnership with NBC, where they added specials to the lineup that included historic moments. Those were never primetime. Now, it appears that this new generation of WWE Superstars will get a chance to make history on NBC as well.
We will have to keep a close eye on WWE’s future dealings, because even bigger announcements could be coming for RAW and NXT. At this point, it is uncertain where the two shows will end up after this landmark USA Network announcement that they will get SmackDown.
What’s your take on USA Network getting SmackDown? Are the four primetime specials on NBC going to be a huge bonus? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you think!
