Elias saw his WWE release today, and the long tour finally ended with Vince McMahon’s company. He had quite a ride, but now he is moving on. That’s not to say that he didn’t try to make a return along the way.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Elias was actually pitching new ideas to WWE up until a month prior to his release. Sadly, that didn’t pan out and he was never brought back to television.

Elias has not been on TV in quite some, but we’re told that he has not been injured of late. In fact, we’d learned that he’d been pitching ideas up until a month ago. Fightful had been asking about his contract status for quite some time.

Longtime readers will know what Ringside News exclusively reported that the internal belief was that his Ezekiel brother character killed his creative. It just wasn’t in the cards for the Drifter to make his way back to the WWE main roster.

Emma was released today as well. Riddick Moss later joined his fiancé in free agency. There were other releases that followed that.

It was later reported that Rick Boogs was released from his contract. Sadly, Aliyah’s name joined that list later. It didn’t take long for fans to hear about Elias’ release. Top Dolla’s name joined those releases as well. This was a sad day for the WWE roster, because they lost some good talent.

What’s your take on WWE releasing Elias? Could they have come up with a way to use him better? Sound off in the comment to let us know what you think!
