Sean Waltman is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world, even if his days of competing inside the squared circle are far behind him. He has been part of two of the most iconic groups in pro wrestling and competed in various promotions. Now it appears Waltman recalled getting sued by WCW for his WWE return promo.

The WWE Hall of Famer has been part of numerous iconic moments, especially during the Monday Night Wars. This is because he was a central focus of the nWo during his stint in WCW and would eventually go back to Vince McMahon’s company, signaling a change of the tides.

When Waltman returned to WWE in 1998, he cut a promo, mentioning that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall would have been in WWE as well if not for “being held hostage by WCW.” Waltman ended up getting sued by WCW for this promo.

While speaking to Chris Vlan Vliet, Sean Waltman recalled WCW suing him for his WWE return promo. Waltman noted that the opposing attorney analyzed the promo and tried to find something against him.

“It was real, it was authentic. I was able to deliver a couple of memorable zingers. It wasn’t the smoothest of promos and it worked. [Vince McMahon] sees me standing there getting ready, he goes, ‘Hey I expected something great from you. Give it to them.’ There was no script, none of that. He had no idea what the f*** I was gonna say.

“It was in there. It probably would’ve been a good idea if they asked me what I was gonna say, right? Because a part of it was why they sued. Some of it was, like, one of the things from my promo that was part of my lawsuit, I got deposed for that. “

“The deposition was classic. The part where I said,’ Kevin Nash and Scott Hall would be there here with me if they weren’t being held hostage by WCW.'”

“So I’m sitting in the deposition, [the lawyer for WCW] and I had my lawyer, that Jesse Ventura’s lawyer, who’s there with me. The lawyer goes, ‘Why did you say Kevin Nash and Scott Hall would be right there with you if they weren’t being held hostage by WCW?’ I said, ‘Well I was talking to Kev the night before and he told me it would be a good idea if I said that.”

“[The lawyer asks] ‘What do you mean suck it?’ They asked me that. What does that have to do with anything? Like, ‘what do you think it means?'”

Sean Waltman also explained why he preferred being in DX over the nWo. The promo will forever be remembered as one of the significant changes that led to WWE’s win over WCW in the Monday Night Wars and that’s what matters to X-Pac.
