AEW got their Dynamite Grand Slam event started with a match that was guaranteed to draw a headline. Claudio Castagnoli put the ROH Title on the line against NJPW Strong Champion Eddie Kingston in a title for title match. That contest was physical, to say the least.

Eddie Kingston has made no secret about the fact that he doesn’t like Claudio Castagnoli. He has been vocal about it, to say the least. The two got to collide in a big way at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The crowd was seemingly behind both competitors, because there is a lot of respect there. That being said, Eddie Kingston received a lot of chants as a New York native.

During the match, Excalibur said on commentary that Claudio and Eddie Kingston have faced each other twelve times before, and the former Cesaro won ten of those matches so far. They have a lot of history, and that came to a head in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

In the end, Eddie Kingston rallied and he hit Claudio with everything he had. After a powerbomb, Eddie Kingston won the ROH World Title in New York City.
