Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a major name in the world of professional wrestling and maintains a strong connection to the industry despite his flourishing career in Hollywood. However, none of his success has been reflected in the XFL, which has suffered a ton of losses over the past now. Now it appears the XFL is very close to merging with the USFL.

The XFL was branded as a cursed entity, as it failed for its two previous launches in the past two decades. It finally came back this year, with The Rock at the helm alongside his other business partners.

As previously reported, the XFL suffered an estimated loss of $60 million in its first year. The XFL also anticipates a significant revenue increase of $100 million in the following year, with about a quarter of its income coming from ESPN.

According to a report by Axios.com, the XFL is seeking to merge with the USFL. It was further added that the two sides are in “advanced talks.” Even Sportico has reported that both parties are in talks about a merger. The talks would lead to a 50/50 merger between the two sides, with broadcasts for the games to be split between FOX and Disney-owned stations.

Only time will tell whether the XFL will end up merging with the USFL, as The Rock might end up having to do that in order to save the XFL. After all, things don’t look too good for the league right now.
