Brian Cage honed his skills in various promotions before joining AEW. The Machine is a highly skilled in-ring performer, particularly for someone of his size. He was a staple of AEW television before making his way to Tony Khan’s ROH. Now it appears Cage stated that he and Aaron Rodgers would discuss wrestling during math class.
Brian Cage graduated from Pleasant Valley High School the same year as Aaron Rodgers. Cage became a big name in pro wrestling while Rodgers became one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers even won Super Bowl XLV in 2011.
While speaking on Hey! (EW), Brian Cage was asked about graduating with Rodgers and whether they were friends. Cage revealed that he and Aaron Rodgers would discuss wrestling during math class in high school.
“You know what’s so cool about him? He was a really cool guy. Everyone, that was the Attitude Era, everyone watched wrestling, doesn’t matter how much they said they didn’t watch wrestling. Everyone watched wrestling. Him, still a high school quarterback, popular guy, he never faded once. He knew I was a huge wrestling fan, so math class, we would always talk. ‘Man, you watch Raw last night? You watch Nitro?’ He knew.”
Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his first regular season game with the New York Jets and is expected to miss out on most of the season. Regardless, Brian Cage will always fondly recall his time with Aaron Rodgers and that’s what matters to him.
