Kevin Nash Once Slapped Samoa Joe After Disrespecting Him

Pro wrestling is full of fascinating stories about larger than life characters. Behind the scenes, they are still real people with emotions, and sometimes things can get a little heated. This is one story where things popped off, but they could have been much worse.

Samoa Joe is still going strong in AEW, and he has a veteran career behind him. He crossed paths with many greats and WWE Hall of Famers during his time in the ring, even outside of Vince McMahon’s company. While he was in his lengthy TNA run, the Samoan Submission Machine had quite an experience with Kevin Nash.

Kevin Nash said that Scott Hall didn’t show up, but then Joe “went into business for himself” during a promo. Nash considered Samoa Joe a friend at the time, and he was standing backstage at the time. He also understood Joe’s disappointment that Scott Hall no showed the pay-per-view, and that was understandable until Joe brought up Nash’s name.

“All of a sudden it was me that f*cking got thrown under the bus, and I’m like ‘what the f*ck?’ So we do our match and when it’s over with we go out back, away from everybody, we walked away from everywhere they were being filmed. I walked up to Joe and said, ‘what the f*ck was that? Was that from Russo or was that yours?'”

“He just looked at me and smirked and said, ‘that was mine,’ so I open-hand smacked him. He didn’t f*cking go down. He didn’t, but he didn’t say anything back either, so I smacked him again, and he just looked at me. Then Jeff Jarrett came out and said, ‘Kev, Kev, Kev,’ so I walked away.”

“The next day, Joe felt so bad about it that they called a meeting and he went in front of all the boys at TV and apologized, directly to me. He didn’t have to do that. My two smacks to Joe. Joe was man enough to realize that ‘I did go into business for myself.'”

Kevin Nash then said that “if I would have punched Joe in the face,” it would have resulted in a double-leg takedown, and a real fight would have gone down. However, Nash slapped him, and that seemed to make a bigger point.

Samoa Joe has not publicly spoken about this story, but it seems that Kevin Nash has respect for him, even to this day. It seems that Kevin Nash made the right move to show “a mutual respect” by not actually striking Samoa Joe.
