Today is a sad day for WWE, because a lot of people within the company are losing their jobs. That number seems to have hit a couple departments in a big way.
It is widely believed that the cuts will not impact the WWE roster, as well as production team, on-air talents, or individuals closely involved with talents, such as producers and coaches. Other employees were not as lucky, and they were released today after Nick Khan told everyone to work from home in order to give HR a chance to conduct the layoffs.
PW Insider noted that two divisions have seen significant cuts. Those two divisions are the podcasting and WWE Network.
“The latest on the WWE layoffs is that we have heard both the WWE Network and Podcasting divisions have been hit with employees being let go, but we haven’t confirmed who or how many from those areas.”
Ringside News previously reported that Jamie Horowitz has been released from WWE. He previously held the role of Executive Vice President of Development and Digital. WWE also fired Head of Marketing, Catherine Newman, from her position today. Amanda Bloom also joined that list of firings later on.
The WWE Network division seeing cuts could drastically influence the amount of content that fans see out of the company. Also, their podcasting division is responsible for providing entertainment for a lot of fans as well. At this time, we have not heard about any programs being cancelled.
