WWE is moving into a new chapter of their company’s history, and they are firing a lot of people. Now, we have a projection about how many they are cutting.
WWE and UFC’s merger is now complete, and TKO Holdings Group intends on cutting costs. They have a number in mind, and it will take a lot of hard decisions to reach that desired $50 million to $100 million goal.
Ringside News previously reported that Jamie Horowitz has been released from WWE. He previously held the role of Executive Vice President of Development and Digital.
WWE also fired Head of Marketing, Catherine Newman, from her position today. Amanda Bloom also joined that list of firings later on. The podcasting and WWE Network departments were hit significantly.
Word going around is that WWE is firing around 40 to 50 people today. That number could be higher when everything is said and done.
WWE CEO Nick Khan sent employees a mass email yesterday, informing them that they are to work from home today. HR needs a chance to conduct releases in a private setting, so the exact number of firings won’t be known until everyone is back at the office, and they do a headcount.
This is a very sad day for WWE, and many employees are still nervous that they will be invited to a Zoom call informing them that they are being laid off. Hopefully, everyone who loses their job today will be able to find work elsewhere in a hurry.
