CM Punk is considered one of the most problematic and toxic individuals in the pro wrestling world right now, as his stock only dropped in the past year. He was fired by AEW and this shocked the pro wrestling world. Now it appears Eric Bischoff warned Punk that the clock is ticking on his career.
Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk made desperate attempt to return to WWE when he was part of the WWE Backstage show a few years ago. Other reports have suggested that he was interested in returning to WWE before his AEW comeback earlier this year.
While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff talked about CM Punk’s future in pro wrestling. Bischoff noted that CM Punk is not getting any younger and has limited years left in his in-ring career, warning Punk that the clock is ticking on his career.
“If he’s sitting on a pile of cash and he’s not financially motivated or doesn’t feel the need from a financial perspective to make a move, that’s a factor and a variable.
Unless he’s got enough money sitting in the bank where he doesn’t have to worry about the next 25 years, at some point, he’s gonna wake up … and you go ‘[annoyed grunt] I gotta make something happen.
It would all come down to Phil Brooks being able to convince Paul that he’s sincere. I would hope –not knowing Phil Brooks at all– that some point soon he recognizes that the clock is ticking.
And more than that, recognizes that he’s in absolute control of the final chapter of his professional wrestling story.”
Ringside News also exclusively reported that CM Punk wants fans to believe WWE is an option for him. We’ll have to wait and see what will become of The Second City Saint in the end.
