Zelina Vega’s stock has been on a continuous rise ever since she returned to WWE last year. She has become one of the most popular babyfaces in the WWE Women’s division and it appears Vega doesn’t want to win the women’s title due to her 9/11 background.
During the 9/11 attacks, Zelina Vega lost her father Michael Trinidad, who was working in one of the twin towers before it was struck by a plane full of passengers. Her father might be gone, but she never forgot him no matter what.
While speaking to Busted Open Radio in an interview, Zelina Vega made it clear that she doesn’t want to win the women’s title due to her tragic 9/11 background.
“I’d like to think that maybe part of it has to do with the fact that they wouldn’t want to do it just to do it because of the day, if that makes sense. You know, like I think either way, you’re gonna get ‘Oh, they only gave it to her because it’s 9/11 and they wanted to throw her a bone after blah, blah, blah happened’, or, ‘Oh, they gave it to her in Puerto Rico because she’s from there.’ I’d like to think that they wanted to give it to me because I deserve it, and that’s what I’m looking for… As much as it would be literally everything I could have wanted, I want to get it because I deserve it.”
We will have to wait and see whether Zelina Vega will eventually win the women’s title, as fans want her to reach the top of the mountain eventually.
