Gable Steveson’s situation with WWE is a very interesting one. There was a big question mark above his head just a couple of days ago, and then he showed up at an NXT live event to continue his journey with the company. There’s a lot more to that story.

Gable Steveson pulling out of the Senior World Championships was noted as “weird”. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that, “it was so weird to me because last week he was still listed as doing it, but every time I asked people at WWE, ‘Is he doing it?’ I never got an answer … They had to approve him doing it.”

Ringside News exclusively reported in August that, Gable Steveson was an “NXT talent for now, main roster eyes are always on him though.” Now, there is a big question mark above Steveson’s head, because his name was reportedly removed from the roster.

Dave Meltzer stated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, “Steveson has been officially removed from the NXT roster. I don’t know what that means past that’s happened, and there are no plans for him in NXT at this moment.”

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Gable Steveson. It was said that this situation is an interesting one, and it will probably have to wait for Vince McMahon’s return to the company before we see any resolution.

“He worked two shows this weekend after pulling out of the World Championships. You know, it’s weird because originally they had him pegged as the next Brock Lesnar. Obviously, that has to be re-evaluated.”

“He got a great, great deal as he was expected to be the next Brock Lesnar, you know. But, you know, he was gonna debut on the main roster in a big way, and now he’s facing Dante Chin at two NXT house shows in Florida in front of 200 people to get ready. You know, his trajectory has changed greatly, but he is there.”

“I don’t know if he’s going to be back on TV soon. I know a week ago they had no plans for him. A lot depends on, you know, his situation will depend on Vince. Until Vince comes back I don’t know if we’re gonna know a lot that’s going to happen with him, because his situation is going to be a Vince decision, and if Vince isn’t back then Triple H is in charge, but it’s the big picture. He’s got an uphill climb right now.”

Gable Steveson was big signing for WWE, and the company even set up remote training facility, so he could continue to hone his craft in the ring as he continued his studies at the University of Minnesota. At that time, Steveson was thought to be exclusive to WWE. As the company’s first-ever NIL signing, it was said that Steveson joined the WWE roster while defending his NCAA title for the University of Minnesota.

Gable Steveson’s story in WWE is not finished yet. That being said, you also never know what can happen in pro wrestling. There were plans to push him on RAW, and he was even drafted to the plan, then he never showed up on the red team.

In 2022, Ringside News exclusively reported that Triple H nixed plans to use the Olympic Gold medalist on the main roster. Later on that year, it was revealed that Gable started training at the WWE Performance Center once again after having a heart procedure.
