The Bella Twins Explain Their Decision to Ditch the ‘Bella’ Name

Nikki and Brie Garcia, formerly known as the ‘Bella Twins,’ have made a significant transition both in and out of the wrestling world, cementing their legacy as WWE Hall of Famers.

The journey of Nikki and Brie Garcia in the world of professional wrestling has been nothing short of remarkable. Under the moniker of the ‘Bella Twins,’ they achieved incredible success in WWE, including holding the prestigious Divas Championship. Nikki, in particular, earned the distinction of having the longest title reign in the history of the Divas Championship.

In recognition of their contributions to the WWE Universe, the Garcia Twins were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. However, their induction, despite being well-deserved, received limited screen time during the ceremony.

Since their retirement from in-ring competition, the Garcia Twins have been vocal about the need for greater representation of women in wrestling, particularly within WWE. During an appearance on “LIVE with Kelly and Mark,” Nikki explained the reasoning behind this change, citing a desire to return to their Mexican and Italian roots as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.

“When we were wrestlers, the Bella twins, that was our gimmick name. So now that we’re no longer wrestlers when we were retired we’re like ‘Let’s go back to our roots.’ Mexican and Italian. We are entering this new chapter, about to be 40 in November. So we thought you know entering this next decade of our lives, let’s go back to our roots as entrepreneurs and mothers.”

As they prepare to celebrate their 40th birthday in November, the Garcia Twins are embracing entrepreneurship and motherhood, solidifying their legacy as WWE Hall of Famers and beloved figures in the world of professional wrestling.
