Impact Wrestling is still going, and they are picking up stars as they see fit. They are also reportedly very interested in CM Punk coming to work with them, but it appears that they need to make a decision about Deonna Purrazzo.
Deonna Purrazzo is still on top of the Knockouts Division as a former champion. That being said, it seems that 2024 could be a big year for her.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Deonna Purrazzo is still set for free agency at the start of 2024. The report further noted more specifics about her situation.
One of the most decorated champions in IMPACT Wrestling history is set to hit the free agent market at the start of next year. Purrazzo’s deal expires at the end of 2023, as Fightful has previously reported, and we’ve confirmed that as of now, there has not been an extension reached.
At 29 years old, Purrazzo will reach free agency outside of the pandemic era of wrestling for the first time since 2018. She was signed by WWE, then released in 2020. She actually worked for IMPACT for several months without a contract, including winning the Knockouts Championship, before signing. She’d go on to be a three time Knockouts Champion, as well as winning the ROH Women’s Championship, the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship and the IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Championship
It was reported that Deonna Purrazzo signed a multi-year contract some time ago, with IMPACT Wrestling including an option year when they renegotiated her deal due to her exceeding the terms of her original contract. Even after exercising the option on Purrazzo’s contract, there remained a slight chance that she could have chosen to sign with another organization.
Deonna Purrazzo had a little stint in NXT, but that didn’t work out. She wanted to become a television star, and the company simply didn’t use her. Impact Wrestling, on the other hand, was able to put her right on television, and she certainly used that position to her advantage.
With AEW looking for strong contenders to build up their women’s division, you never know what will happen next. If anything, 2024 could be a very interesting time for the Virtuosa.
