WWE has not ignored LA Knight’s huge growth in popularity since joining the main roster. The former Eli Drake is in the initial stages of a substantial push, and recent reports suggest that WWE is securing his services for the foreseeable future.
According to PW Insider, negotiations for a long-term contract between Knight and WWE officials are either nearing completion or have already concluded. Some sources suggest that this contract could extend for up to 5 years.
Despite Knight’s existing success, it has been widely reported that WWE officials were waiting for the right moment to fully commit to his significant push. The recent report indicates that securing the long-term contract was a crucial step before advancing with the push.
WrestleVotes previously reported that WWE updated its internal “talent board” after Payback, with Knight listed as the top babyface Superstar on SmackDown. According to PW Insider, the current plans entail positioning Knight as one of the top babyfaces on the blue brand, if not the top one.
At Payback, Knight defeated The Miz with John Cena serving as the special referee, and Cena appeared to endorse Knight in a post-match moment on the stage.
We will have to see what’s next for LA Knight. He is a top babyface for the company at this point, as he continues to do very well in merchandise sales. Fans also can’t wait to yell “YEAH” and hear his “LEMME TALK TO YA” catchphrase as well. Only time will tell if he ever brings that famous dummy line into the mix.
