WWE and UFC’s merger is going down very soon, and it is expected to close next week. As fans wait for an official announcement, both companies are continuing on with their own ventures, and that includes video games.

We will have to see what the possibilities are for the next UFC game, but the WWE game could also include MMA fighters. At this time, it seems that they are not quite at that stage of the merger just yet.

EA UFC 5 is set to release in late October, marking the first installment in over three years since the previous one. The game includes iconic figures such as Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and Fedor. In light of these inclusions, we have to wonder about the possibility of other crossovers, involvement of celebrities, and additional personalities, including WWE Superstars.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that if they asked about the possibility of seeing WWE Superstars in the upcoming UFC video game. At this point, it doesn’t look like they are discussing that.

With WWE and UFC soon reaching a merger with Endeavor, Fightful asked if the possibility of WWE talent being in the game had been broached. EA UFC developers confirmed that they did ask if that was possible, but were told that until the merger is complete, it isn’t likely something that will even be really heavily discussed.

WWE is currently licensed by 2K for their games. Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, and Matt Riddle are all on the current WWE roster and have fought in the UFC. Bobby Lashley competed in Strikeforce, which was bought by UFC. Sonya Deville also competed in MMA fights.

It’s worth mentioning that previous editions have featured characters like Isaac Frost and Shaquille O’Neal. That being said, don’t expect to see Roman Reigns just yet.

WWE and UFC might have a lot of crossover possibilities after the merger. Only time will tell how often we see the two companies integrate each other’s content into their programming. It might just go down in a big way in video game form eventually.

What’s your take on WWE’s merger with UFC? Will it allow for more crossovers like this? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you think!
