The WWE is full of talented Superstars who have competed in numerous companies over the years before calling WWE their home. That said, a lot of talent have also left the company for various reasons. This includes Matt Cardona, who was released by WWE and has since become a major name in the independent circuit. Now it appears he accused Jon Moxley of ducking him.

In case you need a reminder, Matt Cardona was known as Zack Ryder during his time in WWE. He didn’t break the glass ceiling there and was unable to reach his potential as a star there. He was eventually released by WWE in 2020 and went on to become the Indy God in the independent circuit.

At GCW The Art of War Games back in 2021, Matt Cardona defended his GCW World Title against Frank The Clown and beat him in a short time. Eventually, Jon Moxley made a surprise appearance and defeated Cardona to become the new GCW World Champion.

While speaking with the Battleground Podcast, Matt Cardona took a shot at Jon Moxley and accused him of ducking Cardona, making it clear that he still hasn’t got a rematch for the GCW World Title.

He’s ducking me … not only have I not had a match with Moxley in GCW, I have since gotten no rematch for my GCW Championship after losing to Moxley,” Cardona said.

“I was screwed. I had a grueling one-on-one encounter with Frank the Clown. It took everything I had to beat Frank, one of the toughest competitors in the game. Just as I’m celebrating, thinking I had won, out comes Moxley, who screws me. I wasn’t ready. Even though I’m always ready, I wasn’t ready at that moment.

“I haven’t gotten a rematch against Mox or against anyone for that title … so I think GCW’s gotta book it – or AEW – either or.”

Matt Cardona also believes he will return to WWE eventually. It remains to be seen whether Jon Moxley and Matt Cardona will eventually square off against each other in the future.
