CM Punk’s run in WWE came to a shocking halt after the Royal Rumble in 2014 when he was frustrated with the company, which led to him walking out. Punk’s relationship with WWE is far from the best right now. That said, it appears Road Dogg really doesn’t think he should be answering anything related to Punk’s WWE return.

CM Punk has never failed to burn bridges with many companies he has worked with, as controversy always follows him every step of the way. He was fired from AEW last week after a lot of drama and now reports have suggested he wants to return to WWE.

Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk made a desperate attempt to return to WWE when he was part of the WWE Backstage show a few years ago. Other reports have suggested that he was interested in returning to WWE before his AEW comeback earlier this year.

While speaking on the Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Senior Vice President of Live Events Road Dogg made it clear that he has no idea about WWE upper management’s feelings about bringing CM Punk back, adding that he is the wrong person to even ask about Punk’s return.

I am the wrong guy to ask — that is the truth. Because I cannot hire nor fire — that is out of sight of my paygrade. I did mention recently that he would move the needle [by returning to WWE], but truth be told, that comment was made a long time ago … or whenever that was. It just doesn’t seem like the right time to even talk about it, you know? Things are happening in real-time; God only knows what’s going to come out at the end of this.”

Road Dogg previously stated that CM Punk returning to WWE would help move the needle. Ringside News also exclusively reported that CM Punk wants fans to believe WWE is an option for him. We’ll have to wait and see what will become of The Second City Saint in the end.
