Gable Steveson has been on WWE’s radar for a long time now, and it appears that he isn’t going to pursue a big venture outside the company after all. This is interesting, because weeks after Steveson announced he would be in the World Championships, the WWE signee has now pulled out.
Gable Steveson has decided to withdraw from this month’s Senior World Championships. In 2020, Steveson clinched the Olympic Gold Medal in freestyle wrestling, following his earlier gold win at the 2017 Junior World Championships.
Steveson, an Olympic Gold Medalist, made his in-ring debut at the WWE NXT Great American Bash premium live event held at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Austin, Texas, where he defeated Baron Corbin. There could be a lot more to come, but it wasn’t revealed why he has pulled out of the World Championships.
Earlier this year, Gable Steveson returned to amateur wrestling and secured a victory at the US Open in April. He also participated in wrestling again at Final X in June.
USA Wrestling announced that they received notification of Gable Steveson’s withdrawal from the tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. It remains unclear why Steveson opted out of the competition.
Mason Parris, a heavyweight wrestler, has been selected to replace Steveson. The tournament is scheduled to occur from September 16th to September 24th. We will keep an eye on this story for further updates.
Ringside News will be here for you as we keep an eye on Gable Steveson. He has a bright future in WWE, but he might be wrapping up his amateur wrestling career in the process.
