Malakai Black made a significant impact upon his arrival in AEW in 2021. He debuted by attacking Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson and went on to form various alliances and tag teams.
One of the notable partnerships Black formed was with Brody King, resulting in the Kings of the Black Throne tag team. Subsequently, he expanded his faction by introducing Buddy Matthews, and together, they became known as the House of Black, primarily competing in the trios division.
In March at AEW Revolution, they achieved a significant milestone by defeating The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson) to capture the AEW World Trios Championships. However, they eventually dropped the titles to The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn at the All In event.
Interestingly, it has been pointed out that Malakai Black hasn’t competed in a singles match in AEW for a remarkable 440 days. His last recorded singles match in AEW was against Penta Oscuro in June 2022.
Despite his limited solo appearances, he has maintained a strong record in tag team competition, boasting a 14-2 record in tag team matches this year.
