AEW has unveiled the first two matches for its upcoming AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament, set to take place on AEW Dynamite. This tournament will determine the next number one contender for the AEW World Championship.

The first announced match features Darby Allin facing Nick Wayne. This bout carries an intriguing backstory and history between the two competitors. Allin was trained by Nick Wayne’s father, and they have been friends since Nick was a child. Both Allin and Wayne have been supporting each other in matches and have been embroiled in a feud with the Mogul Embassy.

The second match revealed is Roderick Strong versus Trent Beretta. Strong announced his participation in the tournament last week on Dynamite and expressed his strong desire to win it. His motivation lies in wanting to take the championship from MJF and prove that MJF was a disloyal friend to Adam Cole.

Adam Cole and Roderick Strong, who are both part of AEW, have been at odds due to Cole’s friendship with MJF. Strong significantly influenced the world championship main event between MJF and Adam Cole at the All In pay-per-view. MJF is scheduled to address the AEW audience on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite.
