WWE RAW Results Coverage, Reactions & Highlights For September 4, 2023

It’s Monday night, and you know what that means! WWE RAW will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage.

WWE RAW will start this week at 8:00 PM EST, as always. match-by-match highlights and results from the show will take place on this very page. Feel free to leave any reactions in the comment section below.

Tonight promises an exciting night of action as we get the fallout from WWE Payback. Also scheduled for tonight is the highly anticipated Intercontinental Championship match between Gunther and Chad Gable. The updated match card is as follows:

• Jey Uso arrives on RAW
• Tornado Tag Team Match: Matt Riddle & Drew McIntyre vs. Viking Raiders
• Intercontinental Championship Match: Gunther (c) vs. Chad Gable

WWE RAW Opener:

The opening package for the show airs.

Jey Uso’s music plays and he walks to the ring. He gets on the mic and says he was only gone two to three weeks but it felt a lot longer than that. He says he really hit his breaking point fighting his family.

He says Cody Rhodes called him out of the blue and that’s why he will main event RAW by himself. Sami Zayn’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Sami says it is crazy to see him standing here. He says there are a lot of people in the locker room who will have a problem with Jey being on RAW.

He says this is about both of them and he wanted to make sure he was the first person he saw when Jey Uso came to RAW so that he could tell him to his face that he is happy to see him. He says Jey broke free and now he is standing here by himself. Sami says he is proud of Jey and offers a handshake but Jey doesn’t shake his hand. Sami says he is here whenever they need to talk and starts to walk away.

Jey stops him and says that wasn’t very ucey of him. He then offers a handshake but Sami hugs him.

Drew McIntyre & Matt Riddle vs. Viking Raiders

Drew McIntyre’s music plays and he comes out to the ring. Drew and Jey stare down and Sami breaks them up. Matt Riddle’s theme song plays and he comes out and stares down with Jey before walking to the ring.

Ricochet is talking backstage with Adam Pearce. Seth walks by and Adam stops and says he is not cleared to be here tonight. Seth says if he can walk, he can fight. Ricochet says he respects Rollins for being here. He says Rollins doesn’t need to carry the whole show. Rollins says he is fine and walks away.

*Commercial break*

Viking Raiders’ theme song plays and he walks to the ring.

The match begins and McIntyre attacks Erik. He hits a spinebuster on Ivar. Erik hits McIntyre with a knee sending him out of the ring. He does the same to Riddle. Drew comes in the ring and sends Ivar out of the ring. He tosses Riddle on the Viking Raiders. Riddle goes to take a table from under the ring.

*Commercial break*

Ivar climbs the top rope but is stopped by Drew. Riddle and McIntyre superplex Ivar. Erik with a knee to the face. Cover! 1…2…kick out. McIntyre with a shoulder tackle to Ivar. He hits a neckbreaker to Erik and Ivar. He then hits the Death Valley driver on Ivar. McIntyre goes for a powerbomb but Ivar stops him. Drew sends Ivar over the announcer’s desk.

Ivar comes back with a splash. Riddle with a flash knee. He sets up a table in the ring and places Erik on it. Riddle climbs the top rope but Valhalla distracts him and Ivar takes advantage. Kofi Kingston comes in and attacks Erik and Ivar. He accidentally hits Riddle with the trouble in paradise. The Viking Raiders throw Kofi into Drew. They hit the Ragnarok on Riddle for the win.

Winner: Viking Raiders

Seth Rollins’ music hits and he walks to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Seth is in the ring and he says at Payback, Nakamura did everything he said he was going to do. He says Nakamura targeted his back throughout their match but he is still the World Heavyweight Champion.

He then says one thing has been sitting right for the past two days because Nakamura was able to walk out of the building while he was pushed out by his wife. Rollins calls out Nakamura.

Shinsuke Nakamura’s music plays and he walks out. Seth asks him to get in the ring. He says he has a proposition for Nakamura. Nakamura doesn’t move from the entrance stage. Rollins says they have another World Heavyweight Championship rematch tonight on RAW.

Nakamura says something in Japanese. Rollins says he assumes that Nakamura is accepting his challenge and asks him to get to the ring. Nakamura says no. Rollins asks if they are going to have a world title rematch and Nakamura says no.

Rollins says that is not going to work and he charges for Nakamura and they brawl on the entrance ramp. WWE officials come out to break up the brawl. Nakamura kicks the back of Rollins. Ricochet comes out to fight off Nakamura.

*Commercial break*

Seth is trying to argue with Pearce who tells him he is trying to help Rollins but he walks away

Ricochet vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura rolls out of the ring but Ricochet goes after him and sends him into the ring. Ricochet with a head scissors. Nakamura attacks Ricochet and hits a knee drop. Nakamura with a sliding German suplex.

*Commercial break*

Nakamura with a knee to the midsection. Ricochet comes back with a back elbow. Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley are looking backstage. Ricochet attacks Nakamura in the corner. He then goes for a springboard clothesline and follows it with a standing shooting star press.

He goes for a 450 splash and misses. Nakamura kicks him in the head. Ricochet recovers and hits the recoil. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Ricochet kicks Nakamura. He then dives onto him. Nakamura drives Ricochet into the barricade. Ricochcet sends Nakamura into the timekeeper’s area. Nakamura hits Ricochet with a steel chair causing a DQ.

Winner: Ricochet via DQ

He sends Ricochet into the ring and places a steel chair around his neck. Rollins comes down to the ring and brawls with Nakamura. Rollins attacks the security officials and dives onto Nakamura.

Nakamura sends Rollins into the steel steps. Nakamura stomps Rollins. Ricochet chases Nakamura away. Priest and Rhea are watching and Rhea tells him not tonight.

Jackie interviews Zoey Stark who says she has a lot of respect for Trish Stratus. She says nobody pushes her. Shayna Baszler interrupts and says she was wondering when Zoey was going to get rid of Trish. Stark says they have some unfinished business and she challenges her to a match. Shayna accepts and walks away.

Judgment Day’s music plays and they come down to the ring.

Dominik says they did what Rhea told them to do at Payback. He says Rhea took care of defending her title. He also says Priest and Balor handled Zayn and Owens. Balor congratulates Dominik on his one-year anniversary in joining Judgment Day. He also thanks Rhea for everything.

Balor gives a special shout-out to JD McDonagh and he also thanks himself in becoming a grand slam champion. Rhea says Balor and Priest rose to the occasion and showed everyone that they are brothers.

She says there is one thing that is aggravating her and that is the focus is not on them instead, people are talking about Jey Uso and the Bloodline. She says the Bloodline has fallen and they are the most dominant faction in WWE.

JD McDonagh’s music plays and he comes out. Priest tells him he needs to have a good reason for being out here. JD gets in the ring and says he is here because Rhea said that big changes are needed in Judgment. He says Priest doesn’t need that briefcase and he unveils a new briefcase.

Sami Zayn’s theme song plays and he comes out. He says Owens is not here but they are not going to let that slide after it took five people to beat them. He says Dominik is owed a big beating. JD says Dominik is not fighting anyone and he offers to fight Zayn instead. Sami says nobody deserves a bigger beating than JD.

Gunther is backstage and he says history will be made tonight and his legacy will be forever. He says he will go down in history as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion.

Shayna Baszler vs. Zoey Stark

Shayna Baszler’s music plays and she comes down to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Raquel is backstage with Adam Pearce who agrees with here. Green comes in and says she is a future Hall of Famer and she doesn’t wait in line behind Raquel. Pearce says Niven is not cleared to compete.

Green asks what Raquel was talking about. She makes fun of her but Raquel is behind her. Pearce sets up a match between them. Raquel says she will see her in the ring and walks away.

Zoey Stark’s music plays and she walks to the ring.

The match begins and Shayna knocks down Stark. Stark with a dropkick. Shayna comes back and stomps the arm of Stark. Stark kicks Shayna sending her out of the ring. Baszler locks in the carafuda clutch but Stark gets out of it. She then dives onto Shayna.

*Commercial break*

Shayna kicks Stark in the face. Zoey goes for the Z360 but Shayna blocks it and Stark hits her sending Shayna out of the ring. Stark with a splash on Shayna. She sends her into the ring. Stark goes for a dive but Shayna catches her and locks in the carafuda clutch and Stark passes out.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

Shayna and Stark fist bump each other before she walks away. The Judgment Day is backstage and Balor makes the case for JD to join the group. Priest says he needs to prove himself. Balor says they wouldn’t be champions if it wasn’t for JD. Rhea says let’s see how he fares in the match against Sami.

Raquel Rodriguez vs. Chelsea Green

Raquel Rodriguez’s music plays and she walks to the ring.

Chelsea Green’s music plays and she comes out to the ring.

The match begins and Raquel throws Green around the ring. She hits her with a big boot and follows it with a fallaway slam. Raquel hits her with a clothesline and follows it with a Tahana bomb for the win.

Winner: Raquel Rodriguez

Raquel gets on the mic and says she is getting her rematch. She says Dominik will be banned from ringside. She then says she will see Rhea next week for their title match.

Alpha Academy is backstage. Gable says he is already in the history books. He lists his accomplishments. He says he gets to prove to everyone that he is more than just a tag team specialist.

The Miz’s music plays and he walks to the ring.

Drew McIntyre is backstage searching for Kofi Kingston. Riddle asks him to calm down. He says he Jey a big pass and he will go after Cody if Jey messes up. Kofi walks in and apologizes. Drew asks what are the chance that he would do a similar accident and he is going to keep his eyes open in case any more accidents happen.

The Miz is in the ring. The Miz says his guest tonight will shine a light on what happened at Payback. He says he did not lose and he says he will bring out a man who will right this wrong. The Miz introduces John Cena. John Cena’s music plays but he is nowhere to be seen.

He starts mocking Cena by talking to air. He says the kids are booing John Cena. He asks if the crowd can see him and says he is sitting right here. He says for the past 18 years he has been able to right past Cena. He says he will translate for Cena.

He asks if LA Knight paid him or offered him a job and demands an answer. He gets pissed off when the crowd says yeah. He asks again and says Knight’s victory should be thrown out. He asks the air to leave and shoves the air but gets shoved back and he pretends to hit a skull-crushing finale. He says there is nothing imaginary about what happened to him and he challenges him to a match.

He says if he accepts he will find out whose game it really is. He says the LA Knight fairytale is going to come crashing down soon.

Sami Zayn vs. JD McDonagh

Sami Zayn’s music plays and he comes down to the ring.

Jey runs into Akira Tozawa backstage. He then continues to walk and meets Adam Pearce who tells him that someone from RAW might head to SmackDown in exchange for Jey and he wants to warn him.

Jey walks away and Tommaso Ciampa walks up to Pearce and asks if this is a good time to talk. They step into his office.

JD McDonagh’s music plays and he walks to the ring.

The match begins and JD rolls out of the ring. He gets back in and Sami attacks him. JD attacks Sami from behind. Sami sends JD out of the ring. JD drives Sami into the apron and bounces his head off the announcer’s desk. JD sends Sami into the post.

*Commercial break*

Sami attacks JD in the corner. He hits a back-body drop. Sami hits a Michinoku driver. He sets up McDonagh on the top rope but is knocked off. JD goes for a dive and misses. Sami hits an exploder in the corner. Dominik pulls JD out of the ring. Sami attacks Dominik. He then sends JD into the ring. Dominik distracts the referee and JD rolls up Sami for the win.

Winner: JD McDonagh

Sami goes after Dominik. Sami hits the exploder suplex on Dominik. JD pulls Sami out of the ring and he tells Dominik to leave. Sami hits the exploder suplex. He then hits the Helluva kick on JD.

Dominik and JD walk backstage and they run into Judgment day. Dominik says he has some business and goes to talk to Jey. He says they both come from messed up families and Hall of Fame fathers and he feels it.

He says he knows what Jey is going through. He says Jey comes from a broken family and no one likes him. He says ever since Mami and Judgment Day came into his life. He says he will talk to Judgment Day to get him into the group. He asks Jey to think about it before walking away.

Intercontinental Championship match: Gunther (c) vs. Chad Gable

Chad Gable’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Imperium’s theme song plays and they come down to the ring.

The match begins and Gunther takes down Gable. Gable knocks Gunther out of the ring.

*Commercial break*

Gable with a dragonscrew on Gunther. Gunther comes back with a big boot. Cover! 1…..2….kick out. Gunther chops down Gable. He does it again. Gable tries to fight back but Gunther stops him and sends him outside the ring.

*Commercial break*

Gunther viciously attacks Gable. Gunther and Gable fall outside the ring. Gable with a German suplex outside the ring. He sends Gunther into the ring. Gunther catches Gable and hits a powerbomb. Cover! 1….2…kick out. Gunther climbs the top rope but is stopped. Gunther chops him down. Gable recovers and hits a superplex on Gunther. He then hits a diving headbutt. Cover! 1….2….kick out. He locks in the ankle lock. Gable with a back suplex. Gables hits the chaos theory. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Gable locks in the ankle lock on Gunther. He escapes and locks in the sleeper hold. Gable escapes and Gunther hits the sleeper suplex and follows it with a powerbomb. He then hits a clothesline for the win.

Winner: Gunther (c)
