During Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez stated that AEW held a backstage meeting before Collision. Although details aren’t known about exactly what was said, the roster was notified and updated about the CM Punk situation before everything started.
“So, before the show, I don’t have a lot of details about what happened, but there was a meeting before the show, so Tony told everyone what happened.”

That investigation into CM Punk’s situation dove into a lot more than just his altercation with Jack Perry at All In London. In the end, the decision was made that it was best for the company that CM Punk receive his release. Punk was also released from multiple contracts.
