CM Punk was released from multiple AEW contracts on Saturday, leaving everyone to wonder what is next. Ricky Starks and Punk were supposed to wrestle at All Out, and while there was a thought that Starkman wouldn’t be able to work the show, AEW found a great replacement.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Bryan Danielson’s return was kept a big surprise from everyone in AEW. This added to the shock value of his return moment in a big way. That being said, AEW still had to change their main event of All Out due to Punk’s firing.

Punk had been slated to main event AEW All Out in a strap match with Ricky Starks. That was adjusted to Bryan Danielson in a huge surprise that was kept very secret within the company up until just before the show.

Bryan Danielson was shooting for a return, maybe in mid-September. There was obviously hope that he will work the company’s WrestleDream show in Seattle on October 1st. Now, it appears he will be able to wrestle at that show, as long as nothing else comes up.
