Bray Wyatt had a lot of expectations to live up to after returning to WWE last year at Extreme Rules. Prior to that, he was released by WWE back in 2021 and there was a lot of speculation about where he would end up next. Now it appears Wyatt almost debuted in AEW before his WWE return.
The Eater Of Worlds was absent from WWE television following his match with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 37. He was then eventually released by WWE back in July 2021 and fans were utterly shocked.
Prior to his return to Vince McMahon’s company during Extreme Rules last year, there was a lot of speculation regarding his next pro wrestling destination. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bray Wyatt was very close to debuting in AEW before he returned to WWE.
In fact, it was further reported that at one point, TNT was told of a date when he would be making his debut, but the deal ultimately did not finalize.
“He never wrestled for the next year even with great demand for him from other companies. At one point TNT was told of a date for him to debut in AEW, but it fell through, believed to be money related. Impact was interested as was AAA and Japanese groups. He did nothing and then pushed the idea of him returning using the name Windham6. He pushed the name in social media but before ever using it, he went back to the old character, signifying a return to WWE upcoming.”
Bray Wyatt passed away at the age of 36 last week and left behind a legacy that will remain unmatched forever. That said, fans will always wonder how he would have fared in AEW had he gone there.
