WWE can make use of great minds, especially if they are veterans in the pro wrestling business. It seems that Bobby Roode might have found a new role in WWE for good.
Akira Tozawa vs. JD McDonagh wrestled for the Main Event tapings before RAW. It was noted by Sean Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall that Bobby Roode produced that match. This is notable, because it could mean that Roode is now with the company full-time as a producer.
WWE producers shadow for several weeks, working alongside other producers to learn the ropes backstage. Bobby Roode was previously credited alongside another producer, and this week he produced that Main Event match on his own.
Katana Chance vs. Chelsea Green also went down on Main Event this week, and that match was produced by Shawn Daivari.
That same report went on to note that, “Internally, Robert Roode went from being listed as ‘Robert’ to ‘Bobby.’ It may be completely unrelated, but in the past, Vince McMahon insisted ‘Petey’ Williams instead be called ‘Pete.'”
We will have to see if Bobby Roode ever wrestles again. This might be a temporary thing while his neck heals. Either way, he will be a valuable asset backstage in WWE.
