AEW All In was a massive show in Wembley Stadium, but the truth is that CM Punk and Jack Perry’s backstage brawl might be the biggest story to come out of the event. This was the biggest event in AEW story, and it started with a backstage fight. This is only one incident out of many, as Punk almost fought with Miro as well.
During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez walked fans through the story as he heard it. Jack Perry was getting his cuts tended to after his match at All In during the Zero-Hour show. Those cuts came after a spot with glass, and Punk noticed him. This is when Punk allegedly asked if he has a problem with him. Jungle Boy then replied, “you heard what I said out here.”
CM Punk then reportedly said, “you know I could beat your ass, right.” Then they had a “really quick incident.” Punk either shoved or pie-faced Jungle Boy, and “nobody got their ass kicked,” because Samoa Joe was right there to help break things up as well. This was before the “Real” World Title match at All In.
Alvarez went on to say that things got so intense, in a hurry, that Tony Khan was almost a victim of the chaos as he sat at the Go Position.
“They got close enough onto Tony Khan that I believe monitors were knocked onto Tony Khan.”
It was said that CM Punk threatened to quit AEW before their match even started. Samoa Joe had to convince him not to quit, and this apparently caused the event to start ten minutes late.
We will have to see if CM Punk makes a return to AEW any time soon. Right now, Punk and Perry are both suspended, even though AEW hasn’t informed the Second City Savior of that status yet.
