Nick Aldis was one of the biggest names in the NWA over the past few years and saw a lot of success there. His love for the company knew no bounds, but it didn’t matter in the end. He eventually left the company and after a while, joined Impact Wrestling. He left Impact Wrestling and is now working as a WWE producer, while he still isn’t signed to the company. Now it appears he also shut down retirement rumors.
As previously reported, Nick Aldis parted ways with Impact Wrestling after the Slammiversary event, where he lost to Alex Shelly. He is now in WWE shadowing as a producer.
While speaking on Niko Knows Best, Nick Aldis addressed speculations that he will retire from in-ring action due to his shadowing as a producer in WWE. Aldis made it clear there is no truth to such rumors and speculation.
“It’s sort of a blessing and curse of wrestling media and that sort of appetite that fans have for information and wanting to be the first to break stuff all the time. But it’s like, it makes it very difficult to even sort of have a conversation or even sort of try something without people putting some sort of finality on it and immediately go, ‘Oh, that’s it.’ Like, he’s doing this, he’s doing that. Nothing like that is in place. And I don’t know why.
But, again, I guess because of the discussions about, you know, a different role, immediately it sort of jumps to [the] conversation, ‘Oh, he’s not wrestling anymore. He’s retiring. That’s it. Is he done wrestling?’ I’m going like, ‘What? Hold on, I’m 36 years old guys.’ (…) You know, I’m very much in my prime. I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, where does all this discussion about me being done [with] wrestling come from?’ Everyone just needs to chill.”
This is a shadowing period of Nick Aldis, so it remains to be seen whether he will end up signing a full-time deal with WWE, as that might be in his best interest.
