CM Punk and Jack Perry have been placed under suspension from AEW. This action comes in response to the physical altercation that occurred during AEW All In.
Speculation regarding their suspension had emerged on Monday, and it was later revealed that some prominent figures within the organization had personally discussed the matter with CM Punk. Bryan Alvarez first reported this development on Monday, and Sports Illustrated subsequently corroborated the news on Tuesday.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW will be forced to make creative changes due to these suspensions. This will mean AEW All Out booking will need to be altered as well.
This affects immediate plans for creative, including this weekend’s AEW All Out card, where Punk had been planned to perform. There is no word on the length of the suspensions.
This fight all over a situation when CM Punk didn’t want Perry to do an injury angle using real glass, because he didn’t want Jungle Boy to hurt himself. They used real glass at All In during the FTW Title match, and Jack Perry made point to point that out during the match. After Perry got backstage, things escalated quickly.
We will have to see how long those suspensions will be, and exactly what happens next. After all, CM Punk is going around telling people that he hates AEW.
