Pat McAfee became a big name in the world of the NFL before making his way to WWE. Fans had no idea just how integral McAfee would become in the company during his tenure there. While McAfee remains absent from WWE television, it appears he attributed timing issues for preventing him from returning to WWE.

Pat McAfee made his WWE debut in 2018 and quickly established a feud with Adam Cole. By 2021, he had transitioned to being a color commentator on SmackDown, joining Michael Cole.

Even Michael Cole himself would go on record and state that Pat McAfee reignited his passion for pro wrestling. He was last seen on WWE television during the Royal Rumble and has been absent since. A lot happened after that, as he became father and even secured lucrative deal with ESPN.

While speaking on his Instagram Stories, Pat McAfee was asked about his WWE return. McAfee stated that time constraints are preventing him from returning to WWE.

“This is gonna sound like pandering or a cheap pop, it’s not, though. [I miss WWE] Like every day, bro, literally. You know, when I was in the NFL, I was envious of the people that could go do indie wrestling cause I wasn’t allowed, obviously, under my NFL contract, and also, I couldn’t jeopardize what was paying for me and my family, my friends to kind of have a much better life than what we grew up in. So then I get an opportunity to wrestle and do the WWE live, It was an honor and a dream, and I had the time of my f****** life in there.

Loved it, every single moment, but now my business has got to a point where I’m very lucky for this and fortunate for this. We’ve worked our a** off, but you know I’m incredibly busy, and we’ve got fifteen employees over here that are having babies and building houses so it’s a tough thing to deal with mentally because emotionally I want to be there [WWE] but I just can’t timing wise. But we will figure it out.”

Pat McAfee will also get a ton of money every year from his insane ESPN deal. Pat McAfee also took shot at AEW Double Or Nothing for their empty seats. It remains to be seen when McAfee will return to WWE, as it might still be a while.
