Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling, and his influence in the industry is undeniable. He has done a lot for the business and won numerous titles over the years. Now it appears Mysterio suffered a mild concussion during a Smackdown match last month.
The finals of the United States Title tournament saw Mysterio squaring off against fellow LWO member Santos Escobar in a singles match. Fans were invested in the match from the very beginning.
Unfortunately, Rey Mysterio suffered a legitimate injury during the match after Escobar hit a dive on him. This led to referee Jessika Carr making the call that he was unable to compete anymore.
While speaking to Steve Fall on Ten Count, Santos Escobar was asked if the match went according to plan. Escobar revealed that Rey Mysterio suffered a mild concussion during the match.
“The show that you got was the show that it was going to be. I believe that it is important to present a good show and I believe that was the case that night. Rey and I went hard, that’s what we agreed upon. We have a long relationship, we have a bond. When you have that, you go hard. That’s what happens when you go hard. He had a small, mild concussion, but he came back and you know what happened.”
Rey Mysterio would end up defeating Austin Theory for the United States Title earlier this month, much to the approval of fans and his LWO members. We will have to wait and see what WWE will have planned for him after his major win.
