Orange Cassidy has worked hard to establish himself as one of the most beloved stars in all of AEW. His cool character has helped him gain fanfare in AEW. He also has many iconic gestures, including his thumbs up pose. Now it appears the origin of the pose has been revealed.
The man of few words has become one of the biggest stars in the company since joining AEW back in 2019. His run as the International Champion has only further raised his stock in a big way.
While speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Orange Cassidy’s Best Friends stablemate Trent Beretta talked about the origins of Cassidy’s signature thumbs up gesture and how it became his bread and butter.
We did this show in China, and it was an advertisement in an airport for whatever it was, Chinese Soda, and for whatever reason, his [billboard ad person] thumb was a shitty half-assed thumbs up. That was the thing the whole tour we were all doing. His [Ad Person] thumb looked great, he was just being lazy. It became a thing we did all tour. It fits him [Orange Cassidy] perfectly.
Orange Cassidy recently feuded with The Blackpool Combat Club, leading to some solid matches in recent memory. We will have to wait and see what AEW has planned for Cassidy in the coming weeks.
